Description Location: Chadron State Park at 15951 Hwy 385 in Chadron, Nebraska or 3200 Hwy 20 in Crawford, Nebraska
This is a temporary position expected to last 10 to 11 months from start date. Examples of Work Research, Analysis, & Inventory Section). Primary duties will include but not be limited to: meticulous collection and management of demographic data.
The successful candidate will be tasked with maintaining a large network of trail cameras (300) for elk and deer research. Job duties will include, but are not limited to camera placement, camera calibration, changing batteries and SD cards, clearing vegetation, processing, and organizing camera photos.
Utilizing camera software and other programs as assigned. Additional tasks will also include using telemetry to track and observe collared elk and investigate mortalities. Collections of disease samples and completion of other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements REQUIREMENTS: 15 semester hours or the equivalent of post high school coursework/training in fisheries management, natural resources and/or biology AND 12 months experience in wildlife, recreation or fisheries management.
OTHER: Driver\'s license is required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively with staff, landowners, and public. Ability to perform physical labor and work outdoors for long periods of time in adverse weather conditions.
Experience with processing game camera photos, use of telemetry, and mortality investigations strongly preferred. Computer skills desirable (MS Word, Excel).
