Job Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work independently and with a team at the USDA Southwest Climate Hub to develop a geospatial tool for collecting and interpreting solutions to water scarcity in the region. Specific duties will include:

• Reviewing peer-reviewed and gray literature to identify examples of water scarcity solutions.
• Synthesizing and condensing research into case study entries for the atlas tool
• Identifying images for inclusion in case studies and seeking permission to reproduced copyrighted material as needed.

The research assistant will also contribute to collection and analysis of data on implementation of water scarcity solutions across the region, which may include:

• Attending meetings with stakeholders (may require daily or overnight travel) and taking detailed notes.
• Transcribing interview recordings.
• Coding transcriptions and meeting notes to identify themes, in close coordination with the research team.

Assists in the setup, operation, and maintenance of research equipment, instrumentation, and/or facilities, as specifically instructed. May travel to field research sites or other locations to collect and record data and/or samples, as appropriate to established study objectives and protocols.
