You can make GDIT your place. You make it your own by turning obstacles into action. Our work depends on a TSRP SDP Engineer joining our team to support the maintenance, installation and upgrading of the on-site Avaya Blue telephone equipment for the Social Security Administration (SSA).

The Large Site Engineer follows all SSA, Avaya and GDIT policies, procedures and programs related to telephone systems operations. This includes but not limited to documenting critical system alarms, alerting appropriate management of critical system issues, making repairs, performing upgrades and changes as necessary to meet the SSA\xe2\x80\x99s telephone system requirements.

HOW A TELECOMMUNICATIONS ANALYST ADVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Performs a system health check at the start of the day to assess the past and present state of the phone system\xe2\x80\x99s health.
  • Analyzes and clears all critical system alarms.
  • Opens trouble tickets, as necessary to track repair progress.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and categorizes, all trouble tickets received from other sources pertaining to large site telephone system issues.
  • Triages all new CAPRS/REMEDY tickets and closes tickets if possible - otherwise assign tickets to the proper group to complete.
  • Moves adds, changes or repairs customers desktop telephones.
  • Creates various activity reports on the phone system as required by SSA - reports include morning report documenting activities of the past 24 hours, and for future weekly activities as well as outstanding problem ticket report.
  • Orders, tracks and installs all parts needed to maintain telephone system operations.
  • Works with Avaya tier 4 engineers to resolve complex trouble issues or to upgrade software to current releases.
  • Assist with the development and administration of programs, procedures, and guidelines to improve problem resolutions.
  • Participates in the VNOC shift hand-off updates at the beginning/end of shift to update critical events of the previous 8 hours.
WHAT YOU\'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Nortel CS1K VOIP systems V 5.0 and above
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Nortel Contact Center Manager, Call Pilot, NRS and UM2K applications
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment - must include Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Nortel CS1K VOIP systems V 5.0 and above maintenance certification or 5 years minimum demonstrated maintenance experience
  • Avaya Red (Nortel) is also acceptable.
  • Nortel Contact Center Manager and Call Pilot maintenance certifications or 5 years minimum demonstrated maintenance experience
  • 1-3 years of Remedy and/or Peregrine Ticket or similar tracking system experience.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPEREINCE:
  • BS preferred but not required.
SECURITY CLEARANCE LEVEL:
  • Work visa sponsorship will not be provided for this position.
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
