Gathers, analyzes, and composes complex technical information. Conducts research and ensures the use of proper technical terminology. Translates technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel. Organizes material and writes descriptive copy according to establish standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. Selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material. Develops communications materials for publications, internet, strategic initiatives, user manuals, training materials, installation guides, white papers, reports, etc. Develops, writes, and edits functional descriptions, system specifications, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documents. Provides technical writing support and deciphers directions provided on scripted storyboards, specifications, etc. Reviews documents for technical accuracy in accordance with applicable regulations. Responsible for writing, editing, proofreading and/or providing writing support on non-technical and/or technical documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures, and specifications.
  • Types of writing and editing could include, technical, creative, digital, marketing, and product development.
  • Duties may include designing and developing technical manuals, brochures, training materials, or other documentation for internal use, customer reference, marketing, or other purposes.
  • Researching technical reference materials, gathering relevant technical information, coordinating with stakeholders or other experts, developing draft and final copies of documentation while ensuring documents meet editorial and government specifications and adhering to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style.
  • Works independently to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on operational results or project deliverables.
  • Responsible for entire projects or processes within a professional area.
  • Responsible for coaching and reviewing the work of lower-level professionals.
  • Problems are unclear and may require understanding of a broader set of issues and may be difficult.
  • Develops solutions to problems and issues that are unclear and require thorough analyses and understanding of domain knowledge.
  • Communicates with internal and client project team members.
  • Works to influence team members regarding solution design, process and/or approaches.
Basic Qualifications: Requires deep understanding of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of technical domain and has broad understanding of other related specialty areas. Requires Bachelor\'s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience. Additional experience will be taken into consideration without a degree. Preferred Qualifications: Existing Public Trust clearance NASA experience

Pay Range:

Pay Range $59,150.00 - $91,000.00 - $122,850.00 The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
