Position Summary:



ENMU-Roswell is seeking a Teacher Education Program Coordinator with the ability and desire to teach Early Childhood and Educational Foundations courses. This is a full-time (10-month), in-person, tenure-track faculty position. The successful candidate will teach the equivalent of 12 credit hours per semester and play a lead role in program coordination, student advisement, and field placements in collaboration with local school districts. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, advising, and mentoring students, building and maintaining relationshipswith partner schools, and contributing to the mission of a community and technical college. ENMU-Roswell is especially interested in candidates with successful public school experience in Early Childhood Education and community college teaching experience. This position also includes responsibility for maintaining budgets, contracts, and agreements with local and area school districts. This position reports to the Dean of Arts and Sciences.



Duties and Responsibilities:





Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the Teacher Education Program, including practicum placements, student progress tracking, and collaboration with partner institutions. Serve as the primary advisor for Teacher Education students by providing academic guidance, career counseling, and degree-completion support. Establish and maintain partnerships with local school districts (ISDs) to arrange student placements, evaluate site quality, and ensure compliance with program standards. Collaborate with other higher education institutions to develop and sustain clear education and career pathways. Design, deliver, and assess course content in Early Childhood Education and Educational Foundations. Utilize Canvas for communication, feedback, course design, and assessment of student learning outcomes. Promote student success and retention through regular office hours, institutional service, committee participation, and ongoing professional development. Engage students through active and collaborative learning methods and culturally responsive pedagogy. Participate in local, state, and regional education initiatives, workshops, and conferences to remain current in the field. Teach in multiple formats (face-to-face, online, remote, and hybrid) using diverse instructional materials, including Open Educational Resources (OERs). Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:





Master's degree in Education, or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours (GSH) in a combination of qualifying fields that provide a foundation in the subject matter being taught (Education, Early Childhood Education, Special Education). Five years of successful public school teaching experience. Experience and interest in working with diverse student populations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, basic internet applications, basic database navigation, and learning management systems. Ability to teach in multiple formats, including face-to-face, virtual, web-based, and hybrid.

Preferred:



Doctorate in Education (Ph.D. or Ed.D.). Experience teaching in both public schools and community colleges.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

:

Thorough understanding of state licensure requirements, field placements, and assessment processes for teacher education programs. Demonstrated ability to coordinate program activities, including practicum placements, partnerships with school districts, and articulation agreements with other higher education institutions. Strong advising and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide students academically and professionally through degree completion and career pathways. Proficiency in instructional design and delivery, including the effective use of LearningManagement Systems (LMS) such as Canvas for online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses. Ability to develop culturally responsive curricula and incorporate inclusive pedagogies that promote equity and student engagement. Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the capacity to balance teaching, advising, and administrative responsibilities effectively. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate successfully with students, faculty, staff, and external partners. Commitment to continuous professional growth, remaining current with trends in teacher education, early childhood pedagogy, and community college instruction. Ability to use technology and data to support student success, program assessment, and institutional reporting. Dedication to the mission and values of a community college, including open access, student success, and service to a diverse community.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee frequently needs to stand, walk, and sit, and may occasionally need to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Paid Time Off





Leave accrual rates are determined by employee class (At-Will/Professional & Faculty - exempt or Support - non-exempt) and years of employment. See below for specific accruals for each employee class.



As per policies and procedures Adjuncts and Temporary employees are not eligible to accrue leave.





Faculty Paid Time Off

Medical leave is accrued 48 hours in the Fall and 48 hours in the Spring. Personal Leave - Five personal work days each academic year and two work days during the summer. Only regular faculty will be eligible for personal leave. Personal leave will not accumulate from academic year to academic year.


Support Paid Time Off

During the first year of service, full time non-exempt (hourly) employees accrue 7 hours of annual leave and 7 hours of medical leav

per month. The second year of service, full time non-exempt employees accrue 10 hours of annual leave and 10 hours of medical leave per month. The third and subsequent years of service, full time non-exempt employees accrue 14.66 hours of annual leav

e

and 14 hours of medical leave per month. Employees must work for the University for three months before they are eligible to use annual leave. Leave accruals will be pro-rated for part time employees.


Professional/ At-will Paid Time Off

Full time exempt employees accrue 14.66 hours of annual leave and 14 hours of medical leave per month. Employees must work for the University for three months before they are eligible to use annual leave. Leave accruals will be pro-rated for part time employees.






Employee Educational Assistance Plan





Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell offers a tuition waiver for permanent, full-time and part-time regular employees and retirees. Employees can take up to 9 credit hours on the Roswell campus. Their IRS dependents are not restricted in the number of credit hours they can take. For detailed information reference 40.9 Educational Assistance Program.



For classes offered by ENMU in Portales, the Portales campus will waive some tuition for either the employee or spouse, dependents, as defined by the I.R.S., are not eligible for tuition waivers for classes taken through the Portales campus.



Additional course fees will still need to be paid by the employee.





As per policies and procedures Adjuncts and Temporary employees are not eligible to recieve the tutiion wavier.
