What You'll Do
Teach and support high school students in a hands-on classroom environment that builds critical thinking, engagement, and a genuine interest in learning.
Collaborate with fellow teachers and community partners to provide relevant, real-world skill development.
Help students build a strong work ethic, take pride in their accomplishments, and develop the foundational skills today's employers expect.
Grow and promote the program so it's accessible to all learners, using differentiated instruction to ensure every student can succeed.
Foster an inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive learning environment.
Job Qualifications
Required:
Candidates must hold--or be eligible to obtain--appropriate NYSED Career & Technical Education certification and maintain it throughout employment.
Applicants who are not yet certified will receive guidance on next steps, including selecting a pathway to certification. NYSED requirements typically include fingerprint clearance, DASA training, SAVE workshop, Child Abuse Identification training, and submission of education and work experience for a Transitional certificate. This position requires pursuing New York State Teaching Certification in
Trade Subjects - Vehicle Mechanical Repair (Including Heavy Equipment Operation and Repair)
. Candidates must have substantial experience diagnosing, repairing, and/or operating major electro-mechanical systems in automobiles and/or heavy equipment. Relevant experience may include:
Automotive engine technician/mechanic
Transmission technician/rebuilder
Brake and suspension specialist
Alignment specialist
Successful candidates must continue through the full certification process until achieving
Professional Level Certification
