This position is a member of our Midland regional staff.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING



Conduct advanced investigative work in the field of water pollution for the Midland Regional Office of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Conduct advanced technical inspections and site assessments; and prepare associated reports. Resolve violations and initiate enforcement actions. Provide technical assistance to the public, regulated community and other interested groups regarding the application of appropriate regulations. Keep management informed of work status/issues; and participate in the development of section/team procedures to enhance quality and efficiency.




KEY QUALIFICATIONS



Experience working with, or training in, word processing and/or spreadsheet software. Experience interpreting rules, regulations, policies or procedures. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in basic science, engineering or environmental studies. Experience with sampling and/or field instrument measurements.


Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE




A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field; plus, two years of full-time experience in environmental activities.

OR




A master's degree from an accredited college or university in the degrees listed above, plus one year of the required experience.

OR




A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in the degrees listed above.

OR




Six years of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities.

OR




Two years of full-time TCEQ experience as an Environmental Investigator II.




Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES




This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Natural Resources Specialist II-IV state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Environmental Investigator II-IV series.





Work Schedule




Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.


Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Midland Region Office.
