TELEWORK This position offers an opportunity for a hybrid work schedule with a minimum 2-day work in office.

WHAT YOU WILL DO As a part of the division\xe2\x80\x99s Coastal & East Texas Regions team, our Environmental Field Investigator will play a key role in achieving TCEQ\xe2\x80\x99s mission. You would use your skills and experience to:

• Perform work in the field of water pollution for the Houston Regional Office.
• Review permits, verify permit information/ calculations/ and plans.
• Conduct inspections, surveys, and follow-up investigations; prepare reports which document field activities and observed conditions.
• Provide assistance to the public, regulated community and other interested groups regarding the application of appropriate regulations.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• A bachelor\'s degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field generally preferred, but not required.

OR

• Four years of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities directly related to the examples of work performed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience interpreting environmental regulations and/or reviewing environmental permits.
• Experience conducting inspections and/or investigations.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Natural Resources Specialist II-IV state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Environmental Investigator II-IV series.
