Summary

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the maintenance, security, and services provided by the CCLS network and the support and resolution of all technical problems for system hardware and software at the eighteen member libraries.

The Chester County Library, Exton branch, is accepting applications for a Systems Administrator. This position will assist the Computer Services Department with the following:

  • Troubleshoot, upgrade and install all hardware and software for all staff and public computers.
  • Provide support of all Library System-related software and hardware for 18 member libraries.
  • Assist public and staff users with all computer-related issues and questions.
  • Configure, test and monitor new services, hardware and software.
This position requires excellent organizational and oral communications skills and flexibility. The position also requires knowledge of networking terminology and setup, strong desktop and hardware troubleshooting skills and extensive Microsoft skills. A Bachelor\'s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk and stand; lift or carry items; and talk or hear. Occasionally, the employee will need to kneel; push items; twist or rotate at the waist; and drive to and from locations. On rare occasions, the employee will need to stoop, squat or crouch; crawl; and reach or work with arms above shoulder height.

All library positions require the following criminal background and child abuse clearances: Report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP); Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse); and Fingerprint based federal criminal history submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent (FBI).

All employees of the Chester County Library are considered a mandated reporter of suspected child abuse under the Child Protective Services Law (Title 23 Pa. C.S.A. Chapter 63).

State Child Abuse Clearance is required.

Essential Duties
  • Respond to installation, service and maintenance requests from all System libraries and update work orders through help desk software.
  • Installation, configuration, upgrades, maintenance, patches and hot fixes of all operating systems in accordance with Library System standards.
  • Configure, test and monitor installation of new services, hardware, software, and systems by handling repairs/re-images and working with resellers.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade and install all hardware and software for all staff and public computers.
  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot network connections including switches, routers, and wireless connections.
  • Support, maintain, and upgrade all Library system related software and hardware for eighteen member libraries.
  • Assist public and staff users with all computer-related issues and questions, both software and hardware.
  • Provide training for all staff in eighteen member libraries regarding changes, additions, and upgrades to hardware and software; including writing comprehensive procedures and developing resources and training tools.
  • Deploy, update, troubleshoot and provide employee training for Envisionware software.
  • Configure and maintain ServicePro, the application that is used to record and retain status of all assistance requests.
  • Ensure availability of spare parts and securely store equipment; maintain inventory information for all computer systems and peripherals.
  • Remain abreast of emerging technologies and product enhancements on the latest software and hardware by attending professional conferences and training sessions, and by researching professional media, including print and professional websites.
  • Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required

Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree from and accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of networking terminology and setup.
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Windows and Office.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have:
