About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp [SC00].

Systems Administrator members of the ADMS System team apply software, database, hardware, networking, and/or engineering principles, to support FirstEnergy\'s Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) environment. The work focuses on maintaining a system architecture that meets the end-user requirements, while maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage Oracle Network Management System software, including database technologies, schemas, and associated application database administration.
  • Developing and maintaining integrations between systems.
  • Understand the structure and design of the application\'s database.
  • Assist with ETL development by writing Oracle SQL and PL/SQL following Oracle best practices.
  • Develop Oracle database objects, SQL scripts and interfaces using industry standard tools.
  • Provide technical design, build, test, and deployment of Oracle based applications.
  • Utilize industry standard tools to create custom applications using C# and Java programming.
  • Install, Manage and Tune a mission-critical real-time architecture that supports distribution operations 24x7x365.
  • Manage the testing and deployment of patches and software upgrades across numerous environments
  • Perform system security administration tasks.
  • Solve complex problems and troubleshoot functionality for issue identification (including debugging); work in conjunction with other IT personnel.
  • Develop and maintain integration scripting, code or interface APIs.
  • Develop technical designs and estimates to meet the business needs while supporting the company\'s overall IT direction and standards.
  • Create and maintain system documentation and procedures to ensure governance and standards.
  • Creating and execute comprehensive unit, system, and integration test plans.
  • Be an active participant in a collaborative work environment gathering requirements from business stakeholders for new development projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Electrical Engineering, or related technical degree. In lieu of degree, equivalent in hands-on experience will also be considered.
  • Computer programming skills such as Microsoft .NET, Java, Shell Scripting, Python, etc.
  • Functional knowledge of Relational Databases, particularly Oracle databases
  • Experience with using different development environments to implement and test enhancements.
  • Knowledge of developing Oracle database environments to integrate with a variety of applications.
  • Experience with Oracle databases with proven ability to develop SQL Queries, Stored Procedures, Packages, and Views.
  • Proven track record of implementing IT software projects or upgrades.
  • Familiarity with client/server environments.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and be available for call-in and after-hours support (7X24 operations).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with people at all levels and with varying backgrounds.
  • Experience in providing responsive and effective customer service.
  • Highly motivated to work independently and productively within a virtual environment (i.e. working with remote co-workers using virtual technologies).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and plan work, work on multiple concurrent tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and solve non-routine problems with little or no guidance.
Preferred:
  • Experience configuring and administering a Linux or Unix server environment.
  • Familiarity with the .NET framework, developing C# code and utilizing code versioning tools such as Git
  • Familiarity with Oracle Network Management System (NMS) administration and support as well as with Active Directory configuration.
  • Data communications and networking knowledge.
  • Familiarity with working in a real time system environment.
Residence Requirements

Remote - Would need to sit within 1 hour commute of one of the corporate offices located in Akron, OH, Greensburg, PA, or Reading, PA.
