Job Description


The SWPPP & Vegetation Assistant Manager is responsible for the proper planning for vegetation strategies, tracks implementation, and ensures compliance with stormwater regulations on McCarthy\xe2\x80\x99s renewable energy projects. This position works directly with design, preconstruction, estimating, operations and warranty, and supports various construction project teams across McCarthy\xe2\x80\x99s Renewable Energy business unit. Frequent travel to project sites is required. This is an opportunity to work with one of our most innovative and high impact business units in the country and lead a best-in-class quality program for a premier national renewable energy design-builder. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee project level stormwater compliance recordkeeping for multiple projects.
  • Prepare work plans, sampling and analysis plans, and project specifications.
  • Perform pre-construction soil and vegetation surveys (desktop and on-site) to assist with planning, design and estimating.
  • Track SWPPP & Vegetation status across multiple projects, document/communicate/report status, provide recommendations and support to project teams to support vegetation and SWPPP needs.
  • Design and produce GIS maps for the distribution, consumption, and field collection of data.
  • Perform regular field inspections on site across various projects.
  • Assist Project Managers with vegetation/SWPPP related subcontractor management, cost tracking, and
  • Provide periodic environmental compliance training to field projects- both in person and virtual
  • Attend design and preconstruction meetings in the planning phase.
  • Set up and manage project environmental kickoff and regular update check in meetings.
  • Determine project-specific environmental requirements during design/preconstruction.
  • Conduct site visits as required.
  • Assist Environmental Managers with development and implementation of environmental strategy and program.
  • Partner with project team and design managers to collaborate with Engineers of Record.
  • Review design drawings and provide input and recommendations to ensure project success. Actively participate in design reviews.
  • Provide input and guidance into project schedule to allow for proper timing and sequencing of construction activities impacting vegetation.
Required Qualifications
  • A bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in environmental science, soil science, environmental engineering, or closely related field.
  • A passionate commitment to innovation, education, and development of environmental strategies to improve soil, stormwater, and vegetation management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous service to colleagues, contractors, and clients.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 50-75% of the time.
  • Dedication to safety.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 suite, Bluebeam, etc.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates behaviors consistent with McCarthy core values.
  • Project management and administrative skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience related to construction, environmental, and/or stormwater inspections and environmental site
  • ArcGIS or similar experience.
  • Experience with stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) design and implementation.
  • Basic understanding of regulatory and environmental permitting requirements.
