Job Summary:

This position manages the Twin Cities Private Banking Team out of the Twin Cities \xe2\x80\x93 East Region and functions as a senior-level SVP/Private Banking Officer. This position retains and expands existing key personal and commercial deposit/loan clients and acquires new clients by aggressively cross-selling deposit accounts, consumer loans, commercial loans, and all other bank services. This position is proficient at business development and will be expected to consistently call on clients and prospects outside the bank. This position possesses the technical skills needed to underwrite, document, and administer consumer and commercial loans.

Primary Duties:
  • Private Banking Officer / Team Leader:
  • Lead and manage the Private Banking Team to achieve annual goals.
  • Work closely with the Twin Cities Private Banking Manager on strategic initiatives; in particular the development of the Bell Bank brand in various Twin Cities Private Banking circles.
  • Provide the Twin Cities Private Banking Manager with periodic updates on the Private Banking Team\xe2\x80\x99s progress and activities.
  • Recruit new employees and seek out top talent in the market.
  • Act as a liaison between senior leadership and lenders on the front line.
  • Act as a liaison for the Private Banking Team related to compliance, underwriting, loan servicing and private banking leadership.
  • Work closely with Private Banking staff to resolve and/or collect problem loans.
  • Mentor Private Banking Team members and develop career paths to achieve their long term goals.
  • Conduct periodic performance reviews for team members (this is coordinated together with the Manager \xe2\x80\x93 Twin Cities Private Banking).
  • Stay up-to-date on local market trends and the competitive landscape.
  • Approve time cards and and vacation requests for Private Banking Team members.
  • Serve as back-up to the Twin Cities Private Banking Manager as needed.
  • Manage and expand a portfolio of key personal and commercial deposit and loan client relationships, and ensure these individuals/businesses are contacted on a consistent basis.
  • Actively engage in business development by calling/soliciting new and existing commercial and personal deposit and loan relationships. Include branch managers, wealth management, commercial lenders or other appropriate personnel when possible.
  • Actively cross-sell all bank products to include Wealth Management and Mortgage Banking opportunities.
  • Maintain knowledge on all business deposit related products, Cash Management services, Business Internet banking, and ACH processing.
  • Interview loan applicants, collect and analyze financial and related data to determine the general creditworthiness of the prospect and the merits of the specific loan request. Establish and negotiate, where necessary, terms under which the credit could be structured, including the costs, repayment methods, and collateral requirements.
  • Review competitor products, services, and programs and recommend new ideas or enhancements when appropriate. Assist marketing department in developing materials as needed.
  • Be actively involved in community and civic affairs.
  • Conduct activities consistent with established Bell Bank policies, procedures and systems, the Bell Bank Employee Conduct policies, the Bank Secrecy Act and all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • All employees are responsible for information security, including compliance with policies and standards which protect sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Skills Required:
  • B.A. in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
  • 6+ years of credit, lending or examining experience.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in selling Consumer or Commercial deposits and loans.
  • 3 years of direct managerial experience desired.
  • Working knowledge of loan documentation.
  • Above-average written and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer technology.
  • Ability to deal with multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
