Division: Alaska Fracture and Orthopedic Clinic, a department of Medical Network of Alaska MNA Delivers leadership, support, and guidance to healthcare facilities of all sizes across multiple specialists with the primary goal of providing accessibility, value, and quality medical administrative support services.
What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Do:
The surgery scheduler will be responsible for scheduling surgical procedures. The surgery scheduler is the primary point of contact for patients of a hospital or healthcare facility and oversees clerical functions to help the facility operate efficiently and remain on schedule.

  • Answering phone calls for patients, insurers, and other facilities.
  • Scheduling procedures with patients while maintaining an achievable schedule.
  • Explaining instructions to patients before and after procedures.
  • Gathering the necessary documentation from patients and ensuring that all required signatures are obtained prior to surgery.
  • Collecting co-pays and full payments when necessary. Operating internal scheduling services and applications to provide surgical staff access to all procedures assigned to them.

What You Need For This Job:
  • High School Diploma or general education degree
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification or Licensed RN with experience
  • Preferred First- Aid, CPR
  • Must reside in or near Anchorage, Alaska.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of EMR software and Microsoft Office Software.
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands, or feel and talk and hear. Ability to occasionally sit, reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
