Pay for this position is based on 165 hours of work at a rate of $64.28 per hour.

Surf\'s Up for Literacy is students who are ENTERING grades 1-5 in the Fall of 2023.

July 6-7 are staff professional development and preparation days.

Students contact days are Monday-Friday July 10th - July 28th.

Staff work hours are 7:30 AM - 1:30 PM with student contact time from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM.

Description:

The principal is responsible for planning, leading, and implementing a K-5 instruction program with the intentionality of understanding the academic and behavioral needs of each student.

A creative and flexible mindset is required to tackle the needs of students and staff, ensuring the best educational learning experience for each student. Creating and strengthening systems that support this vision will be an important component of this position. The ability to visualize the big picture while implementing detailed systems is critical.

In this position the principal will model, train, and support staff in the areas of:

Leadership and Advocacy

  • Demonstrated success working both independently and collaboratively; leveraging different strategies and interpersonal skills to move the work forward.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to foster positive working relationships.


  • Communicate with a variety of audiences in a manner that gathers information appropriate to the task at hand, and accurately conveys school and district priorities.

  • Diagnoses strengths and weaknesses of school and district systems.



System Development and Implementation

  • Plan, develop, organize, and administer support systems designed to ensure that site goals and objectives are achieved, and that all levels of staff adhere to District, state, and national educational standards and goals.

  • Confer and consult with school and District personnel, parents, and students pertaining to educational and behavior management problems and alternative solutions.

  • Develops and maintains a student behavior management system school wide in accordance with school and district standards and guidelines.

  • Direct, supervise, observe and give feedback to personnel; establish and maintain a positive team building and team management system.

  • Confers with instructional and support personnel in developing solutions to unusual or unforeseen problems.

  • Participate in administrative activities at the direction of the elementary director and district leadership. These may include, but are not limited to, budget development and oversight, master schedule development, student scheduling, IEP oversight, and mental health service delivery.
