DATES: June 20, 2023 - July 13, 2023
HOURS: 6.5 hours per day (7:00 am - 1:30 pm) no school July 4 104 total hours (90 instruction, 10 prep, 4 Clean-up)
LOCATION: Kennewick High School

SALARY: $55.29 p/hr Curriculum Rate

Required Qualifications:
1. Valid Washington teacher\xe2\x80\x99s certificate appropriate for high school 2. Endorsement in Math 3. Satisfactory evaluations
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Current successful middle level experience working with children with academic and special needs.
2. Ability and commitment to implement summer school mathematics curriculum.
3. Familiarity with working with at-risk middle level students.
4. A strong background in the use of computers and technology for instruction purposes.
5. Demonstrated success in teaching math to children of poverty and dual language learners.
6. Knowledge and experience in the use of the Accelerated Math Program.
7. Knowledge and experience in using the NWEA Learning Continuum to focus instruction according to RIT scores.
8. Knowledge and experience in the use of mathematics intervention curriculum.
9. Punctual and consistent attendance.

Job Responsibilities:
1. Provide instruction of mathematics process and content skills. Including instruction and activities designed to increase math abilities and interests of students who are not performing at grade level.
2. Pre-test all students to determine instruction level and post-test all students to determine growth.
3. Assess and teach math process and content skills according to NWEA Learning Continuum.
4. Maintain systematic records as necessary for efficient procedures and provides student evaluation.
5. Prepare for and participate in parent involvement activities.
6. Attend and participate in meetings designed to assist in conducting a strong summer program.
7. Provide written evaluation of the summer program including ideas for improvement.
8. Assist in supervision of all students enrolled in the program, during the entire time students are present, both in and outside of the classroom.
9. Plan for and supervise paraeducators.
10. Others duties as assigned.

Lifting: The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 26 lbs; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.

Physical Hazards: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work outdoors in a wide variety of temperatures; from -10 degrees F to 100 degrees F +. The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in this work environment is moderate.

Application Procedure: In-District staff must complete an internal online application by 10:00 p.m. (PST) on or before the closing date. In-building/In-district staff will have eight school days, or eight working days during the summer to apply for a vacant position through the online application system. The employee may choose but will not be required to meet with the building administrator to understand the building practices, procedures and initiatives specific to the position to which they are applying. After eight days if an in-building employee is qualified for the position, the principal will offer the employee the position. In the case that more than one in-building employee is interested in a position, the position will be offered to the qualified and senior employee. If a position is not filled in-building after the eight day period, the position will be offered to the qualified, most senior in-district applicant, if any. Teachers with a summative evaluation score of 1 or 2 are not eligible to transfer unless agreed upon by the District and Association.
Out-of-District applicants must complete the online District application and attach a letter of interest, resume, valid Washington state teaching credential, and copies of transcripts with degree posted. All hires are subject to completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.
