Caterpillar\'s Resource Industries Operations & Products (RIOP) Value Chain Designer for Large Track Type Tractors (LTT) and Surface Rock Drills (SRD) will ensure linkage between product value stream teams and end-to-end value chains, including process planning and execution to meet or exceed customer order to delivery market requirements while improving the business\' Operating Profit after Capital Charge (OPACC). In addition, you will support the development and execution of end-to-end value chain network improvement activities, including strategic process transformation, value chain planning, inventory buffer design, demand management, value chain performance, logistics, and overall value chain costs.

Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Perform detailed value stream network modeling / optimization, which will be used to support value chain performance project management.

Demonstrate advanced skills and expertise on value stream modeling and design

Support other members of the value chain design team to help to identify OPACC Improvement Agenda (OIA) opportunities, solve problems and resolve model feasibility gaps.

Responsible for posting, publishing, and presenting modeling results into relevant and insightful business information, visuals, and business cases.

Support business and operational decisions of both internal and external value chain partners, by providing data-backed proposals to drive continuous improvements across the overall value stream.

Provide support to value chain teams responsible for the management of end-to-end value chain functions in alignment with customer Order-to-Delivery requirements.

Accountable to maintain strong expertise in network modeling processes, platforms and techniques for the Enterprise.

Responsible for working to maintain and strengthen communications and alignment between logistics and manufacturing activities, as well as driving collaboration between all members of the enterprise value chain network.

Identify and support value chain performance improvements, including quality and delivery performance improvements and the supplier S&OP process.

Work closely with relevant functional areas.

The successful incumbent will possess:

Ability to transform large data sets into meaningful and accurate model inputs, specifically EBOMs and MBOMs, Business Financial Models, Internal and External Operations and Manufacturing Processes, Inbound and Outbound Logistics, and Aftermarket data

Ability to translate models and scenarios into well-developed business case proposals and OIA projects.

Understanding ERP systems\' lead time elements (supply chain, manufacturing and marketing)

Understanding product cost rollups and partial value stream costs

Value stream mapping experience to help support end-to-end network modeling.

Ability to work with cross functional teams globally and gather data for model building.

Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills throughout the Cat network, such as global facilities, transportation organizations, marketing, accounting, etc.

Ability to apply value stream models to extended applications within Caterpillar\'s value stream processes.

Very strong end-to-end supply base understanding, including customers and dealers

Ability to ramp up quickly within a new environment

Advanced statistics understanding, especially related to demand variability and multi-echelon process variability.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor\'s Degree in Operations Research, Engineering, Value Stream, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, management, or related quantitative field

5+ years of value stream or related experience

Top Candidates will also have:

Advanced Degree in Operations Research, Engineering, Value Stream, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, management, or related quantitative field

Network Modeling experience using in-house or commercial tools such as Supply Chain Guru

Knowledge of Caterpillar\'s product structure and ability to visualize the network

Ability to ramp up quickly within a new environment

APICS CSCP National Certification

Knowledge of Caterpillar business language

Previous experience with data visualization software like Tableau

Previous expert-level experience with BOMs, SC Guru or other modeling tools

MRP experience - Legacy and MRP

Database management experience

Knowledgeable of basic purchasing practices (site, category)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

NPI and value chain transformation experience

Excellent communication and data visualization skills

Demonstrated financial acumen

Working knowledge of basic statistics in a business context

Strong customer focus and ability to influence

Additional Information:

The primary location for this position is East Peoria, IL

Domestic relocation assistance is available

This position may require 10% travel
