Duties
  • You will lead the oversight of the primary contractor including the Design, Systems, and Test Engineering organizations to ensure compliance with contractual technical program management requirements.
  • You will oversee the team in certifying and delivering support equipment to the end user.
  • You will provide risk assessment and recommendations to various stakeholders for highly difficult and visible technical issues.
  • You will balance the impacts of technical/schedule/cost.
  • You will serve as technical authority over electrical support equipment used for development, verification, validation, and acceptance of the missile and test missile kit that reside at the Strategic Weapon Facilities, United Kingdom, and submarines.
  • You will manage the configuration of electrical support equipment during sustainment by following SSP policies.
  • You will direct management over engineers assigned to the Electrical Engineering Division including providing technical expertise and guidance, resource planning as it relates to internal and external workloads, and fostering career development.
  • You will plan and budget for travel, awards, training, and future staffing.
  • You will evaluate and implement project and program opportunities including Model Based Engineering and Agile processes and lead continuous improvement efforts.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or NH-03 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer providing procedural oversight and direction in the areas of engineering policy, testing and acquisition development for weapon or missile systems engineering projects and operations.

Education

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor\'s degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor\'s degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor\'s degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
