RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the maintenance of signaling and traffic control devices; analyze operational malfunctioning with testing devices to locate, diagnose, and ascertain repairs to be made
  • Supervise the installation of railroad signaling equipment and highway traffic-control devices according to layout plans and/or FRA regulations
  • Plan work assignments and manage materials and schedules for signal-maintenance projects
  • Investigate accidents and issue restorative work orders
  • Provide technical assistance and training for subordinate employees
  • Manage written records of all tests, inspections, and repairs per\xc2\xacformed; ensure conformance to all company, state, and federal regulations
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the or\xc2\xacgani\xc2\xacza\xc2\xaction\xe2\x80\x99s policies and applicable laws
  • Directly supervise employees in a maintenance section
  • Train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise per\xc2\xacfor\xc2\xacmance; and address complaints and resolve problems
  • Manage other projects and perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental reg\xc2\xacu\xc2\xaclations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and pro\xc2\xaccedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the gen\xc2\xaceral public
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts, such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigo\xc2\xacnometry; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, per\xc2\xaccent\xc2\xacages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical in\xc2\xacstructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several ab\xc2\xacstract and concrete variables
  • Must have thorough working knowledge of FRA regulations governing rail\xc2\xacroad-signal and train-control systems
  • Proficiency in Micro\xc2\xacsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook)
  • Ability to stand, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and taste or smell; ability to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and climb or balance
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to one hundred pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, dis\xc2\xactance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), associate degree, or equivalent from two year college or technical school in electrical field; or high school diploma or general education degree (GED), and five years of signal-maintenance and signal-construction work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CDL (no less than Class B)
