JOB DESCRIPTION

School Location: DelSesto Middle School

Summer Learning School - Middle School Teachers 2023
Middle School Teachers - (Up to 20 positions)

Program Dates: July 10 - August 17, 2023
PD Dates June 29, 30, 2023 and August 18, 2023
Hours: Monday to Thursday from 7:45 am - 2:15 pm

The Teacher is a specialist in ELA, Mathematics or STEM. The teacher provides high-level support and engaging instruction to students.
Teaching positions are based upon enrollment and funding. Teachers with ESL endorsements are preferred.

Teaching positions based upon enrollment (minimum 10 students) and funding.

$40.00 per hour (Contingent upon funding)

RIDE Requirements

Current/valid RI Teacher Certificate in the appropriate subject area (Elem. KG-1 or Elem. 1-6 with MS Ext. or MS with content area

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES

  • Create a fun, engaging and safe learning environment for 6-8 students
  • Implement a district summer learning curriculum to 6-8 students focused on ELA, Mathematics, and STEAM
  • Provide direct service for whole group, small group, and individual instruction based on student needs
  • Administer and interpret educational assessments
  • Implement a range of effective math and ELA evidenced-based instructional strategies and interventions
  • Differentiate instruction by developing, selecting and modifying instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students
  • Promote a classroom atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of all students
  • Monitor and evaluate student outcomes maintaining appropriate records and following all required procedures and practices
  • Participate fully in a professional community including common planning, professional development, and self-reflection/evaluation
  • Supervise students in a range of settings; protect and promote the safety and well-being of students, colleagues, equipment, materials/ facilities
  • Communicate and interact appropriately and professionally with students, colleagues, parents and the community
  • Promote a school atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of all students
  • Continuously develop and evolve teaching practice and support colleagues in their development
  • Must commit to working all days of program
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS
  • Current/valid RI Teacher Certificate in the appropriate subject areas of ELA, Mathematics or STEM related in (Middle Grades 5-8 or Elem. KG-1 or Elem. 1-6, or Secondary 7-12 with MS Extension) MLL and/or SPED certification preferred
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Education from an accredited teacher education program
  • Prior experience in in delivering high quality, standards-based Mathematics, ELA or STEAM instruction in a fun and engaging manner, experience in urban setting preferred
  • Ability differentiate and scaffold instruction to support and accelerate learning
  • An asset-based view of diverse cultures and a belief in growth mindset
