JOB DESCRIPTION

School Location: Cornel Young & Charlotte Woods ES and Alfred Lima ES

Summer Learning School - Elementary School Psychologist (2 positions)

PD Dates June 28, 29, 30, 2023 and August 18, 2023
Program Dates: July 10- August 17, 2023
Hours: Monday to Friday from 7:45 am - 12:15 pm (AM shift) and/or 11:45-5:15 (PM shift)
Please Note: A teacher may opt in to do both shifts, however, teacher must commit for entire double shift schedule during the Summer Elementary Learning Program

Consistent with the Providence Public Schools\' vision and mission, the school psychologist is to work in partnership with parents, students, educators, and external agencies to promote student achievement and create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students
The School Psychologist PK-12 Assist with students in succeeding academically, socially and emotionally.

The School Psychologist PK-12 Provides a full range of school psychological services to children in grades K-8 including design and implementation of classroom interventions; student screening and assessments

A minimum of 10 students is required to run a course.

$40.00 per hour (Contingent upon funding)

EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

RIDE: Current/valid RI Teacher Certificate in PK-12 School Psychologist

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES

  • Provides interventions to students to support the teaching process and to maximize learning and adjustment;
  • Provide individual and group interventions services for students, including social skills training and crisis interventions;
  • Work closely with teachers and teams to enhance critical skills, including conducting formative assessments, interpreting data, creating intervention plans and making data-based determinations about the efficacy of interventions;
  • Provide individual or group psychological support to aid student\'s social and academic adjustment as it pertains to assisting students in accessing education;
  • Design and assist teams in implementing and monitoring behavior intervention plans for students and make data-based decisions regarding the effectiveness of the plan to meet the social/emotional needs of our students;
  • Confer and consult with teachers, staff, families and outside agencies about strategies to facilitate the social and affective needs of students;
  • Helps provide liaison and coordination between the school system and agencies to facilitate services for students and families
  • Must commit to working all days of program as part of Summer Learning program requirements
  • Must commit to attend all professional development days as part of Summer Learning program
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS
  • Ability to screen, evaluate, diagnose, counsel, remediate and support students, three to twenty-one years of age.
  • Ability to develop and implement appropriate goals and objectives for each individual student.
  • Good communication and human relations skills needed in order to implement consultative programs with classroom teachers and parents.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a member of the Team of Qualified Professionals and other school teams to implement administrative policies and procedures.
  • Bilingual preferred
