Position Summary

The Summer Camp Counselor 18+ will help to create lifelong camp memories for Summer Campers at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center in Newport, Rhode Island. Counselors will work with elementary school youth. rising first to fifth graders who will be engaged through experiential learning throughout the summer. Summer Camp runs from July 3rd - August 25th and the ideal candidate should be available all 8 weeks of camp focused on summer learning loss prevention.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 18+ of age.
  • Experience working in a summer camp setting preferred.
  • Ability to work with children and keep them actively engaged in a variety of activities.
  • Must complete Background Check, CANTS, and be willing to complete all immunization requirements that are mandated by the State of Rhode Island
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels including staff, parents, and children.
  • Be available for all weeks of the summer camp program.
Days/ Hours per week: 40 hours per week for 8 weeks

Start date: Week of June 26th \xe2\x80\x93 Training

**NOTE: this position can go year around round with working after school from 2:30pm to 6:00pm, with availability for school vacation weeks.
