Job Description

Endeavor is seeking an intern to support the Entrepreneur Selection team. The internship will be virtual on ET or in-person in NYC, at the discretion of the applicant.

Our Global portfolio:

• 2,400+ high-impact entrepreneurs selected out of hundreds of thousands screened.
• This role will support the Selection team on either one or both of the below two projects:
• Mapping the US entrepreneurial ecosystem, with a particular focus on under-represented founders.
• Benchmarking the due diligence processes of top VC firms, accelerators, and other entrepreneur support organizations.

Project 1: Studying under-represented founders in the US

Phase 1: Mapping the ecosystem. This phase of the project will be research-focused. You will take a broad look at geographies and industries across the US, looking primarily for early-to-mid stage startups and scale-ups (co-)founded by minority founders. The primary focus of this project will be Black- and Latinx-led businesses.

Phase 2: Qualifying the pipeline. After some extensive training on how Endeavor evaluates entrepreneurs and businesses, including understanding Endeavor\xe2\x80\x99s written \xe2\x80\x98profiles,\xe2\x80\x99 you will apply what you know to qualify the highest-potential founders you identified in Phase 1 for potential fit within Endeavor\xe2\x80\x99s network.

Phase 3: Recommending candidates for Selection. After identifying the highest-potential founders and companies in Phase 2, you will present your findings to the Entrepreneur Experience team. Part of this exercise will be identifying which vertical and Endeavor office an entrepreneur best fits into.

Project 2: Diligence Benchmarking

Phase 1: Studying Endeavor\xe2\x80\x99s \xe2\x80\x9ccompany profile\xe2\x80\x9d

The profile is our version of an investment memo for candidates at the International Selection Panel, the final stage in Endeavor\xe2\x80\x99s selection process. You will develop a thorough understanding of Endeavor\xe2\x80\x99s methodology of diligencing candidate companies (e.g., founder interviews, business model analysis, market sizing), as well as our memo writing and knowledge management processes.

Phase 2: Analyzing call notes and best practices of other ecosystem players

You will plug in to an ongoing project to benchmark Endeavor\xe2\x80\x99s entrepreneur selection process to the due diligence and memo writing processes of those of top-tier venture capital investors. You will work with the Entrepreneur Selection Director and Manager to analyze interview notes with analysts, principals, and partners from 20+ funds, spanning a diverse range of geographies, industries, and stages.

Phase 3: Presenting analysis, opportunities, & recommendations

Building upon insights and analysis from phase 2, you will work with the Entrepreneur Selection Director and Manager to prepare and present a final deliverable for Endeavor\xe2\x80\x99s internal teams.

Requirements

Required

• Proficiency with word processing software (Microsoft Word, Google Docs, etc) and data analysis skills (Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets)
• This is an unpaid, educational internship available only to students, including those who graduated in the semester immediately prior to their start date

• Must be a student attending an institution of learning with courses leading to a degree, certificate or diploma - or - you were a student during the preceding semester or have not yet graduated or completed the educational requirements of the program

Preferred

• Pre-MBA or MBA candidates preferred
• Prior experience or coursework in entrepreneurship, business administration, economics, and/or finance
• Experience with Salesforce including data management, dashboards, and reporting, etc.
• Any relevant skills from past experiences or education is a plus
• Must be willing to learn and follow directions.
