About the Role
We're seeking a
reliable and flexible Substitute Culinary Instructor
to step in when the lead instructor is unavailable. This role is a great opportunity to inspire elementary students through hands-on cooking activities that build life skills, creativity, and teamwork. All curriculum and materials are provided -- your focus is on creating a fun, safe, and engaging classroom experience.
What You'll Do
Lead Lessons:
Teach scheduled culinary classes in place of the regular instructor.
Follow the Curriculum:
Use prepared lesson plans to guide students through age-appropriate recipes and kitchen skills.
Prioritize Safety:
Model and reinforce proper food handling and hygiene practices.
Set Up & Clean Up:
Organize class materials and assist with cleanup after each session.
Create a Positive Space:
Encourage participation, build confidence, and foster a collaborative learning environment.
Stay Connected:
Communicate availability, class updates, and student needs with the Program Coordinator.
What We're Looking For
Experience working with children in classroom, camp, or enrichment settings.
Basic cooking knowledge and understanding of kitchen safety.
Strong communication and classroom management skills.
Dependable, punctual, and adaptable to short-notice schedule changes.
Background in culinary arts or youth education is a plus.
