Position Summary



The candidate will provide individual and/or group tutoring for Chaminade University students. Sessions will be conducted at K?kua ?Ike: Center for Student Learning or remotely by Google Meets. The candidate is expected to consider all information, written and verbal, as sensitive and confidential.

This position is intended to contribute to the learning and professional development of the student serving in this role. As a result, the Peer Academic Coach will have achieved the following outcomes:To be able to Identify and describe the impact of co-curricular engagement on overall student success. Developing and exercising the ability to work across teams and to collaborate with other students, faculty, and staff at Chaminade. Demonstrating and employing time management capabilities through balancing life between school, work, and social obligations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Operations

Keeping all scheduled tutoring appointments and maintaining accurate records of canceled and missed appointments. Attending all mandatory tutoring training sessions and scheduled events. Keeping an open line of communication and contacting the Tutor Coordinator with any questions or concerns you may have regarding your appointments. Practicing discretion and using best judgement in all situations that arise. Demonstrating a high level of integrity and professionalism in all interactions with other Chaminade students, faculty, and staff. Complete other administrative duties or special projects as assigned.

Education and Experience

Current and full-time undergraduate student status with Chaminade University Student should maintain a current GPA of at least (3.0), and received an A or B in the subject(s) which they are tutoring. Departmental recommendation for each subject area to be tutored Demonstrated proficiency in subjects to be tutored

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Organized with meticulous attention to detail. Ability to prioritize work and resources. Ability to meet deadlines. Attention to detail with a focus on thoroughness and quality. High integrity and ethical standards.

Physical Requirements



Duties involve keeping scheduled appointments, meeting with students either in person or remotely outside classroom hours, and attending mandatory tutor training meetings. This position requires a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines. Must be able to lift 20 pounds, walk the campus with ease, and have excellent motor skills. Must have finger dexterity. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.

Other Requirements:

This is a Part-time Non-Exempt position. The work week will consist of 10-15 hours, 19 hours maximum from Monday through Friday with holidays being the exception. Depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the department, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be required. Observes all safety and health regulations and works in accordance with safe work procedures and policies of the University. Reports unsafe acts/conditions and injuries in a timely and proper manner.
