Prior experience in customer service, retail, call center, or office/administrative work
Coursework in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field
Familiarity with basic tax concepts (such as W-2s, refunds, and deductions), even from a personal finance or introductory class
Experience working with spreadsheets or basic data entry (Excel, Google Sheets, etc.)
Experience using multi line phones, appointment scheduling tools, or CRM-style systems
Comfort speaking with a wide range of people, including families, small business owners, and first time tax clients

We are seeking Tax Preparation & Client Experience Interns for the upcoming tax season. This internship is ideal for students who want to:
Learn how tax preparation actually works in the real world
Provide top tier customer service to clients
Build professional experience in a busy, client facing office
You will split your time between assisting with tax preparation and delivering an excellent client experience at the front desk, over the phone, and during appointments.
Internship start: In person training in our Lexington, KY office during winter break, followed by part time, onsite hours during the spring semester and peak tax season.
Key Responsibilities :
Tax Preparation Support
Assist in preparing accurate federal and state income tax returns using our software and IRS guidelines
Gather, organize, and review client documents for completeness and accuracy
Enter data into tax software with strong attention to detail
Help follow up with clients on missing or additional information
Client Experience and Customer Service
Greet every client by name and create a welcoming, professional first impression
Check clients in, explain the intake process, and answer basic questions about appointments
Communicate clearly about wait times, next steps, and what documents are needed
Answer phone calls and messages in a friendly and professional manner
Help clients feel comfortable and confident by using simple, easy to understand language instead of "tax talk"
Protect client confidentiality while handling personal and financial information
Office and Operations Support
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front office environment
Scan, upload, and file client documents following office procedures
Assist with scheduling, confirming, and updating client appointments
Support office marketing activities like sharing referral cards, promoting offers, or helping with signage
Participate in team projects that improve office efficiency and client experience
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this internship, you must:
Be currently enrolled in a college or university
Be available for in person training in Lexington during winter break
Be able to work onsite in Lexington during tax season on a part time schedule
Have reliable transportation to and from the office
Be comfortable using a computer and ready to learn multiple software systems
Be able to handle confidential client information with professionalism and discretion
Be willing to work some evenings and weekends during peak tax season
Communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing
