Job Summary
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with high level of accuracy and efficiency: Check-in with and serve as a referral and support resource for a defined group of students, including students transitioning into college. Communicate to students in a clear and concise manner and document all conversations in the appropriate area of the student management system. Assist students in speaking with various offices and utilizing available resources, remotely when appropriate. Provide general information related to course delivery types, tutoring and academic achievement resources, and distance learning information. Provide information for resources to assist students who may be struggling with food or housing insecurity, or other life challenges presenting obstacles to their learning.
Essential Functions
Work to resolve issues while serving as a liaison between the student and other departments; explain and follow school policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality of student records, following FERPA and data security requirements at all times. Provide outreach to a defined group of students who are referred to the college's student services departments. Contribute as needed to ongoing continuous improvement efforts related to student success. Provide excellent customer service and communication skills. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to plan, organize and manage time.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from varied backgrounds.
Knowledge of current software applications.
Desired Qualifications
Work experience in higher education.
Customer service experience.
Bi-lingual preferred.
Work Schedule
To be determined. Part-time temporary, up to 1,250 hours per year.
