The Veteran Student Program Assistant will support the day-to-day operations of the university's Veteran Student Program, ensuring that veteran students receive comprehensive support and services throughout their academic journey. This position involves assisting in project database management, coordinating support services for veteran students, and providing administrative assistance to the Program Director. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as a strong commitment to supporting veterans in higher education.

Reports directly to the Director of Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success
General Statement of Duties:
Support the Project Director in managing all aspects of the CEVSS program and provide administrative support for the program such as purchasing supplies, responding to inquiries from prospective students, coordinating program activities.
Essential Job Functions:
Assist in maintaining and updating the program's database, ensuring accurate tracking of veteran student information, program activities, and services.
Generate reports from database systems as requested by the Program Director or university administration.
Organize and maintain electronic and physical files related to veteran student support services.
Collaborate with campus departments and community resources to facilitate services for veteran students, including but not limited to academic advising, counseling, financial aid, and career services.
Assist in planning and coordinating events, workshops, and orientations aimed at enhancing the academic and social integration of veteran students.
Provide general support to veteran students, answering questions and directing them to appropriate resources.
Assist the Program Director with scheduling, communication, and coordination of meetings and events.
Prepare and maintain program documentation, correspondence, and reports.
Handle inquiries from students, staff, and faculty regarding the Veteran Student Program.
Assist in promoting the Veteran Student Program through social media, flyers, newsletters, and other communication channels.
Support efforts to recruit new veteran students to the program by assisting with outreach and information sessions.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the Veteran Student Program.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience working with veteran students or military-connected individuals is highly desirable.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with database management systems.
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
Required Qualifications
Requires two years of college and two years of administrative office experience. Comfortable working with several team/staff/executive members and have the ability to multi-task and prioritize various activities.
