Oversee steel fabrication and erection projects, including structural and miscellaneous steel as well as pre-engineered metal buildings. Lead pre-construction activities (budgeting, design assist, value engineering) while ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage multiple steel fabrication and erection projects from planning through completion.
Coordinate with estimating, detailing, and field teams to translate project schedules into execution plans.
Monitor project budgets, labor allocation, material flow, and schedule adherence.
Ensure QA/QC standards are met, including welding, dimensional checks, coatings, and final inspections.
Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to secure materials and maintain project timelines.
Drive safety compliance on all projects and foster a strong safety culture.
Lead project meetings, progress reporting, and client communication.
Mentor and guide project engineers or coordinators supporting shop and field teams.
Qualifications:
7-12+ years in steel fabrication or construction project management; experience with structural/misc steel preferred.
Knowledge of AISC standards, welding processes (SMAW/FCAW/GMAW), and fabrication tolerances.
Proficient in project scheduling, ERP/MES tools, and budget management.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Lean/Kaizen or process improvement experience is a plus.
Preferred: PEMB experience, galvanizing/paint knowledge, OSHA 30.
