Maritime Undersea (MU) is an exciting and dynamic group within Space, Intelligence and Weapons Systems Division. We are a growing business focused on delivering solutions from seabed to space. In this role, you will be part of a high-performing bi-costal Mechanical Capabilities Team delivering the best solutions for today\xe2\x80\x99s complex undersea engineering challenges. Our products range from unique Mission Operations and Integrated Mission solutions to the highly capable Autonomous Extra Large Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (XLUUVs).

The ideal candidate will demonstrate an understanding of loads development, material strengths and properties, sizing and analysis processes, design and manufacturing requirements. They will have a basic understanding of static strength, fatigue, and damage tolerance analyses, including experience with stress analysis tools. They will have the skills and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings and developing conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.

Position Responsibilities:

Perform stress analysis to determine structural integrity (margins of safety), using classical techniques, finite element models / simulations and other analysis tools.

Preform analysis for systems, sub-systems, and components; shock, structural, thermal, and vibration.

Support test execution and analyzes / reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.

Support production and provide technical solutions; including involvement in factory build, testing and associated troubleshooting. Ensure supplier or build partner compliance with Boeing standards.

Assist with driving efficiency in the design maturity process by steadfast collaboration with design, liaison, and manufacturing counterparts. Support trade studies, design improvements, and optimization efforts.

Assist with development of analysis methods, tools, and designs to support future programs.

Support in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.

Participate in work status meetings, along with supporting routine status report development and submittals.

Work under general supervision and can demonstrate working independently.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or Internationally depending on business needs.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):

The ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship

Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Aeronautical/Aerospace/Astronautical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering

2+ years of experience in a Mechanical and/or Structural Engineering role

1+ years of experience developing free-body diagrams from classical, empirical, and finite element analysis

1 + years of experience with finite element models / simulations using one or more of the following: PATRAN, NASTRAN, ABAQUS, ANSYS, Hypermesh, LS-Dyna, Optistruct

1+ years of experience working in a cross functional environment and/or business unit teams

1+ years of experience facilitating internal and external customer interfaces and requirements

Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays; if required

Preferred Qualifications:

Currently have or have held an active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance in the past 24 months.

Willing to submit to a CI (Counter Intelligence) Polygraph post start.

An interest in developing Undersea Products and learning more about the unique analysis considerations for these unique environments.

Experience with Boeing\xe2\x80\x99s Standard Analysis tools (e.g., Common Structures Workstation, Abaqus, PATRAN, NASTRAN).

Experience navigating CAD Tools such as Siemens NX or Dassault Syst\xc3\xa8mes CATIA V5 / 3DExperience (3DX).

Effective written and verbal communication skills; good analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.

Experience supporting productivity improvement through use of Quality Management System, Lean and/or Agile principles.

Material Review Board / Liaison Engineering (MRB / LE) Authority experience.

Advocate for systems thinking; reviewing and suggesting ways to standardize, streamline, and increase effectiveness.

Self-motivated, proactive and forward thinking with good organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities.

Experience interpreting and using engineering drawings and specifications.

A positive attitude towards learning, quality, and teamwork, as well as the ability to build constructive working relationships.

Ability to professionally present complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years\' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range for Associate Level: $81,600 - $110,400
