Job Description

Overview:

The Staff Research Scientist will perform laboratory research and prepare scientific manuscripts and grant proposals. The incumbent will direct and perform research projects related to the chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) imaging, design and analyze experiments, prepare manuscripts for publication in peerreviewed journals, and prepare presentations for national and international meetings.
Responsibilities:

1. Directs and performs research projects related to chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) imaging. This will include developing new pulse sequences for imaging molecular binding and metabolism as well as data analysis strategies for these methods.

2. Directs and performs research projects to develop methods for the detection of endogenous and exogeneous CEST Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

contrast agents.

3. Analyzes the results of experiments and prepares manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentations for national and international

scientific meetings.

4. Reports research progress and obstacles to the principal investigator on a daily basis and to other members of the FM Kirby Research Center as needed.

5. Trains, guides, and supervises student researchers and junior personnel as assigned.

6. Plays a major role within the laboratory in developing, writing, and submitting proposals to secure funding for research projects from National Institutes of

Health (NIH) as well as private foundations.

7. Maintains a current knowledge and understanding of the literature relating to MRI and CEST.

8. Participates actively in scientific literature review (e.g., journal clubs).
Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have portfolio of at least five (5) publications in peer-reviewed journals.

EDUCATION:

Master's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. PhD preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 5 years of experience in a research setting required. Previous supervisory/management experience, particularly supervising graduate students and lab personnel, required. Experience with Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare compliance requirements in a research laboratory. Experience performing Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and MRI experiments.
Minimum pay range: USD $56,157.50/Yr. Maximum pay range: USD $97,597.76/Yr.
