Description The newly formed Cancer Data Sciences group at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and UCLA Jonsson Cancer Center is seeking a Staff Research Associate to conduct research related to analysis of cancer molecular and clinical data to identify process and biomarkers associated with drug response, outcome and subtypes. This position will be working with a broad team of quantitative analysts including Statisticians, Data Scientists, Clinical and Basic trainees, and bioinformaticians. Responsibilities include genomics coding, support data entry databases and validate for errors, run reports, provide documentation of lab work, and participate in lab meetings. The SRA will work with the lab personnel on other tasks as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong inter-personal skills and be passionate about learning methods for molecular, cellular or radiologic data-analysis to uncover general principles of cancer, and use these to create clinically useful biomarkers. They will be passionate about generating high-quality results, with a careful approach that identifies potential confounders and sources of error, and a track record of reproducible results and scientific publication. Salary Range: $24.88-$29.67 Hourly
Qualifications Required: Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills. Ability to perform several tasks at once, communicate clearly and work in a team environment. Preferred: Familiarity with computational genomics, including DNA. Knowledge of basic and multivariate statistics. Ability to conceptualize desired tables and graphs and basic code as needed. Ability to track and document notable events for each research study as they might pertain to study outcomes. Attention to detail. Ability to work independently. Ability to perform basic technical duties.
