Responsibilities:

As a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer, you\'ll perform mechanical design, development, and evaluation of vehicle and precision electronics products, assemblies, systems, and processes from concept through production stage, and make modifications as needed.

• Research, develop, and evaluate mechanical designs for vehicle electronics from the standpoints of thermal, structural rigidity, acoustics, EMI, ESD, DFM, DFT and cost.
• Select hardware and material assuring compliance with product specifications and requirements. Designing products using knowledge and prior experience in sheet metal forming, machining, die casting, injection molding, etc.
• Work directly with lateral teams such as Electrical, System, PCB, Software, Test Engineers and Industrial Design on a regular basis.
• Perform or facilitate installation/testing related to the product, system, or process to meet Environmental/EMI/ESD/Safety requirements.
• Determine purpose, application, and feasibility of new or enhancement of existing products or processes.
• Create and update documentation for designs, including mechanical layout, part and assembly drawings, analysis, evaluation, prototype build and testing throughout all phases of the project.
• Work with external customers, distributors, vendors, or suppliers to initiate new designs and solve problems.
• Coordinate engineering efforts with procurement, manufacturing, product management, systems engineering and provide engineering assistance to internal teams or external customers.
• Work with project management to generate and update product design and development schedules.
• Keep abreast of new developments in the fields of PCB design, methods, and applications.

This position pays - $109,000 - $167,000 (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.) Qualifications:

• Advanced engineer with 8+ years of career experience, with Bachelor\'s degree in Mechanical Engineering or applicable engineering discipline. 6+ years with Master\'s degree. 3+ years with PHD. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous experience preferably in the areas of electronics packaging for computers, tablets, phones, displays, avionics, marine, agriculture, construction, etc.
• Ability to apply design theory and methodology, and assist in determining and developing requirements from specifications, oral instructions or preliminary sketches.
• Ability to perform mechanical design using Creo, Solidworks or similar MCAD tools. Knowledge of both CAD software highly preferable.
