The

Staff Development Nurse

is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs that support the professional development and regulatory compliance of the nursing and direct care team. This position ensures that all staff receive high-quality onboarding, continuing education, and skills competency validation to promote excellent resident outcomes and survey readiness.

Key Responsibilities:




Develop, coordinate, and deliver orientation and ongoing training programs for nursing and direct care staff. Assess staff educational needs and create targeted in-service training based on quality metrics, audits, and resident care outcomes. Maintain accurate records of all educational activities, competencies, and certifications in compliance with state and federal regulations. Support infection prevention, safety, and emergency preparedness training initiatives. Collaborate with the Director of Nursing and Administrator to ensure staff education aligns with facility goals, CMS regulations, and survey readiness standards. Conduct return demonstrations and skills validations to ensure staff competency in clinical procedures. Provide coaching and mentorship to promote staff retention, professionalism, and a positive team culture. Coordinate annual training programs such as CPR, abuse prevention, HIPAA, and OSHA compliance. Assist with policy development, quality improvement, and performance evaluation processes as needed. Serve as a clinical resource for staff and a role model for compassionate, high-quality resident care.

Qualifications:




Current

Registered Nurse (RN)

or

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

license in the State of Montana (RN preferred).

2 years of experience

in long-term care preferred, skilled nursing, or related healthcare setting. Strong communication, organizational, and teaching skills. Knowledge of

CMS

,

OSHA

, and

state regulatory

training requirements. Experience in staff development, leadership, or quality assurance preferred. CPR certification required (instructor certification a plus).

Schedule and Compensation:




Full-Time, Monday-Friday

(occasional evenings or weekends for staff education needs) * Competitive wage based on experience, plus comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, PTO, and retirement options.
