Overview Summit Materials is looking for a tenured senior level HR Business Partner with broad HR experience in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will be motivated by being an employee champion and change agent within an ever evolving organization. In this role, the Senior HR Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management at our corporate level, under Summit Support Center. The position also formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization. Roles & Responsibilities

  • Partners with the line of business leader in each of the two regions to advise and execute strategic objectives. Acts as a consultant for all HR matters including workforce planning, talent management, engagement and retention, rewards and employee relations, etc.
  • Works closely with the management team in the implementation of company policies related to human resources, development of solutions through organizational development, employee development, and cultural and process-oriented perspectives at region and line of business level
  • Provides insight and leadership goals, and strategic HR initiatives
  • Consults with employees and managers to drive performance differentiation, instill our cultural values, communicate our employee value proposition, and create a culture of inclusion.
  • Participates in company-wide programs and initiatives (e.g., salary review, compensation planning workforce planning, and organizational change) in partnership with HR team
  • Partnering with the business and talent management/staffing and recruiting colleagues on key talent initiatives and enabling business change (supporting the talent aspects of organization structure changes, workforce planning, hi-potential employee development, succession planning and talent integration related to mergers & acquisitions, etc.)
  • Providing day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (key skills and abilities include coaching, counseling, career development, influencing, facilitation, presentation, communication, process development, analysis, and problem-solving)
  • Change and project management stewards of the business
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required
Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 5-8 years in professional experience resolving complex employee relations issues
  • A formal education & degrees are preferred, but we are most interested in your total experience & professional achievements
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, talent management, employee and union relations, engagement and retention, diversity, and federal and state respective employment laws
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization\'s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Able to manage multiple complex issues & prioritize projects concurrently
  • Solutions-oriented, influential, hands-on leader, outstanding interpersonal & communication skills, both verbal & written, with an ability to flex styles depending on the audience and a positive change agent
  • Must be a team player & able to work collaboratively with & through others and able to work effectively at all levels in an organization
  • Acute business acumen & understanding of organizational issues & challenges.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Teams) or related software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and customer service skills; organizational skills and attention to detail
