Summary

Position Summary

Responsible for Workers\' Compensation claims administration, coordination of the Transitional Work Program including supervision of the Work Pool, and for associated administrative duties in Employee Health (EH) for the system. Duties include but are not limited to recordkeeping, communications/liaison with associates, providers, department management, insurance carrier, and attorney; filing claims, responding to subpoenas, monitoring bills, tracking/trending, reports, data gathering for and attendance at conferences/hearings/litigations/mediations, approval of settlements, assisting EH RN and providers with occupational injury/illness cases, and other duties as assigned. The workers\' compensation specialist is responsible for clarifying potential injured associate visit type and proofreading charting prior to sending documentation to insurance carrier and attorneys.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor\'s Degree and 2-4 years related experience or Associate\'s Degree and 3-6 years related experience, or High School Diploma or equivalent with 4-8 years related experience.
Experience
  • Experience with workers\' compensation in a medical facility preferred or related legal field experience such as paralegal.

Core Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinate claims and claims reporting with workers\' compensation carrier
  • Supervision of Transitional work program
  • Supervision of work pool associates and job assignments/timekeeping
  • Coordinate referrals and serve as liaison with nurse case manager/insurance carrier/Medical Providers
  • Attend legal hearings, litigations, mediations and informal conferences
  • Prepare charts and applicable paperwork for Provider and forward dictation to claims carrier
  • Participate in team meetings for Risk Reduction, patient handling, SREO review, Claims & Risk Management, claims carrier meetings
  • Respond to all subpoena and medical records requests
  • Communicate work restrictions with managers
  • Must be able to utilize computer electronic records, Microsoft word and Excel
  • Occasional overtime required
