POSITION OVERVIEW: The Special Events Manager is responsible for the success of VEAP\xe2\x80\x99s fundraising and cultivation related events. The Events manager will plan, manage, and implement all fundraising and cultivation events in collaboration with Advancement, Volunteer, and other department leadership, while building awareness of VEAP\xe2\x80\x99s mission. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the creation and implementation of all cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising events in collaboration with Advancement Director and CEO, working towards a planned financial goal
  • Research, identify, cultivate, and solicit new and existing donors and increased partnership opportunities to support fundraising events in collaboration with the Advancement Director
  • In collaboration with the Advancement Director and Advancement team, work proactively to secure sponsors, auction items, and in-kind donations
  • Create and manage implementation, production, and close-out of all events including vendor relationships, budgets, timelines, pledge fulfillments, and event logistics
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of event solicitation lists, such as venue, auction, sponsor, and invitation, while ensuring best practices in collaboration with Advancement Database Coordinator
  • Generate reports and monitor event outcomes including revenue, expenses, results, and post-event surveys to evaluate and increase fundraising event program growth and to recommend improvements
  • Create and collaborate with other departments and staff on fundraising event project plans and participate in budget development
  • Collaborate with the Digital and Marketing Manager to develop event collateral (invitations, programs, flyers, signage, video) and promotional materials (website, media releases, social media posts, photo opportunities, sponsor recognitions, and eblasts) in coordination with VEAP\xe2\x80\x99s marketing and communication plan
  • Manage event administrative duties including recording and tracking donor invoices, acknowledgement correspondence, mass mailings, thank you letters, support at the event, etc. in collaboration with Advancement Database Coordinator
  • Collaborate with the Volunteer team to recruit, train, and manage event volunteers
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or equivalent education and experience with a strong track record of meeting revenue goals while implementing and managing mid- to large-sized events in a non-profit setting
  • Five years of experience in managing mid- and large- sized ($200 \xe2\x80\x93 $500K) fundraising events
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Teams
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully planning and implementing events that meet or exceed fundraising goals
  • Able to manage multiple competing priorities and be able to meet project deadlines in high pressure situations
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills with ability to effectively make quick decisions within the scope of assigned authority
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work easily and effectively with a wide range of people including donors, board members, volunteers, team members, and vendors
  • Strong communications skills both written and verbal, with an ability to effectively lead and engage a team while addressing concerns in an encouraging and supportive manner
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends
