The Space Management Specialist is responsible for ensuring an increase in the effectiveness of facility and space utilization and space management. The individual reports to the Associate Director for Facilities Design and Construction. He/she ensures a coordination and collaboration between the Facilities Design and Construction division of Corporate Facilities and all other departments within YNHHS to effectively and efficiently identify and allocate space, maintain current floor plans and data on facilities, vet requests for space, and make space allocation recommendations to senior management following pre-established standards.

Responsibilities:
1. Assist in managing the Hospital's/Health System's Facilities Design and Construction department's space activities for all construction and renovation projects. Maintain all Hospital/Health System plans and drawings including on and off campus facilities. 2. Researches, prepares and solves a wide range of space planning issues while striving to maintain Hospital/Health System standards. Maintains and updates improvements to facilities interior and exterior signage as required. 3. Supervises and coordinates departmental moving projects including coordination and supervision of furniture/equipment deliveries, pick-ups and installations. 4. Responsible for developing, maintaining, and overseeing a complete inventory of YNHHS's building and space data. 5. Ensures an understanding of and adherence to federal, state, and municipal codes & regulations for facilities. 6. Oversees the planning and execution of projects involving changes to facilities or space. Assists with the management, planning, and coordination of space altering projects across campuses. Provides movement support for occupants affected by renovation, new construction or space use changes. 7. Commits to service excellence and how it relates to the day to day function of the position. 8. Follows and lives by our 'Standards of Professional Behavior'.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION

Associates degree in Computer Aided Design & Drafting or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Planning or a related field preferred. ASHE CHC Certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience working in facilities management, interior design, or construction, preferably in a healthcare institution. 1-2 years experience working with Computer Aided Design (CAD) and drafting programs required.

LICENSURE

Must be able to obtain an ASHE CHC Certificate within two (2) years of employment.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

Some walking and visiting spaces within the hospital or system, ability to discern color, ability to discern sounds, sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time.
