The Operations Manager serves as the primary manager of engineering operation logistics. The Operations Manager is responsible for assisting and working alongside the broadcast engineering staff to ensure SoonerVision\xe2\x80\x99s daytoday and event operations are properly supported. Managing the SoonerVision equipment and event support are chief among responsibilities of the Operations Manager. Primary amongst the roles, the Operations Manager will provide the lead in traditional production event setup (setting cameras, running cables, building broadcast booths, etc.) while also serving as EIC in support. The candidate will be expected to learn proficiencies in both fieldEIC & controlroom EIC responsibilities while also being expected to continually learn new competencies and skills as technology continues to change. Due to the large emphasis on eventsupport, this position includes many nights & weekends above and beyond daily responsibilities. Additional duties and tasks include but are not limited to tracking inventory of items such as lights, cameras and tripods; tracking the deployment of broadcast lenses, camera bodies; managing organization of cables, broadcast gear; upkeep of bulbs, battery charging, software & firmware updates; installation of new technology; setup of live events, studio shows, specialty shoots; cleaning of fiber, lens glass; cable termination and conduit runs; loading heavy equipment and driving equipment vans; tape library organization and media asset management. Encompassing of these duties, the candidate must be a selfstarter, with the ability to identify needed projects while also identifying and preparing for upcoming projects and events. Further, a critical role of the Operations Manager includes training and supporting Production Assistants (students) in the processes of setup, operation and teardown of broadcast equipment. The candidate will be expected to setup trainings regularly with students, while also doing onthejob training during event preparation, setup, execution and teardown. The candidate will be responsible for cultivating a group of Production Assistants that can achieve core competency in support of the engineering department.


Job Requirements

Required Education:
Bachelor\'s degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Marketing, Journalism or related field, AND:
  • 24 months of industry experience in creative media, sports production or related field
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor\'s degree for a total of 72 months of related experience. Skills:
  • Ability to work in a demanding, fastpaced environment that often requires irregular hours, nights, weekends and travel
  • Excellent organizational, problemsolving and communications skills
  • Proven ability to build relationships, collaborate and work effectively with diverse constituents
  • Detailoriented for accuracy of information, data, grammar and brand standards
Advertised Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand, engage in repetitive motions, walk, communicate, hear and see, including color, depth perception and clarity.
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects over 79 pounds.
Certifications:
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver\'s License in order to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date.
Departmental Preferences:
  • 2+ years of industry experience in broadcast industry or functional equivalent as a studentworker, parttime or fulltime
  • capacity.
  • Previous experience working in a college or professional sports environment.
  • After Effects, Adobe Premiere and postproduction gear such as DSLR\xe2\x80\x99s, SLR lenses and Sony & Canon cameras.
  • Strong initiative, goaloriented and selfmotivated.
  • Working knowledge of university, conference and NCAA rules.
