Responsibilities:
- The Software Engineer - Rover Flight Software (VIPER) will support the NASA JSC VIPER (Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover) project. You will help NASA with the search for water ice on the moon\'s south pole by:

  • Generate and maintain Flight Software
  • Perform system integration and testing
  • Perform and coordinate software testing and verification
  • Review software products and artifacts for completeness of design and implementation
  • Perform other duties as required




Requisition Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in engineering in the field or in a related area.
  • Software Architecture
  • Proficiency with C/C++ coding
  • Proficiency with Linux
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving software integration issues
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills and strong customer service attitude
  • Able to quickly adapt to new situations and a willingness to learn new technologies
  • Must be willing to work onsite at Johnson Space Center

Requisition Preferences:
  • Experience working as part of an Integrated Product Team to develop avionic systems
  • Experience developing flight software across the full development life cycle
  • Experience with real-time operating systems
  • Avionics Communications and Tracking (CMT)
  • Knowledge of the NASA Spacecraft systems and software
  • NASA software and systems development standards
  • Object oriented software development
  • Agile software development
  • Core Flight Software (CFS)
