Sinclair is seeking a Software Development Engineer! Sinclair Digital is a division of Sinclair Broadcast Group with dual headquarters in Seattle, WA and Hunt Valley, MD. Sinclair Digital was formed in February of 2014 with the goal of making the nation\'s largest broadcaster a leader in digital media and content distribution on all platforms. In the past 6+ years, Sinclair Digital has amassed a 100+ person team of innovative leaders, designers, developers and testers that are launching digital properties and new brands on web, mobile, and ott devices that reach more then 40 million people every month. This effort is powered by a proprietary media management and publishing platform that automates processes and production of content in unique and compelling ways.

  • Contribute by engineering technical solutions that meet industry-leading operational, technical, and software excellence standards
  • Collaborate with team members and group leadership while working towards solutions that are innovative, reliable, and performant
  • Continue to study and practice with the latest emerging technologies in Web, Enterprise Cloud, networking and broadcast TV
Key Result Areas:

Coding:
  • Writes maintainable code and comments in a clear and concise manner
  • Organizes code in a logical and highly readable fashion
  • Interprets and translates designs and requirements into coded solutions
  • Avoids code duplication by structuring reusable code into functions or objects
  • Understands and properly uses memory management mechanisms and takes resource management into consideration when developing code solutions
  • Avoids over-engineering simple or straightforward problems.
  • Prefers \xe2\x80\x9creadability\xe2\x80\x9d over \xe2\x80\x9ccleverness"
  • Works to avoid regressions when modifying existing software
  • Resolves well-defined stories or bugs in a reasonable timeframe
  • Follows the team\'s coding and testing standards and best practices
Knowledge Sharing & Collaboration:
  • Actively listens and participates in team discussions
  • Incorporates feedback from code reviews
  • Contributes to documentation such as wikis and readme documents
  • Follows up when blocked or needs direction
  • Participates in other contributor\'s code reviews
  • Has a strong working knowledge of C, C++, Java, or JavaScript
Learning:
  • Learns the tools the team uses (source control, CI/CD build systems, frameworks, editors, containers, and deployment processes)
  • Learns from team members and applies learning to their work
  • Learns the tools and techniques necessary to grow toward SDE II
Communication:
  • Communicates effectively at team\'s standup

The base salary compensation range for this role is $81,000 to $123,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate\'s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, quarterly and annual incentive plan bonuses, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
