Software Developer Ii

Seattle, WA, US, United States

Job Description

This position is a hybrid role requiring employees to work from our headquarters location in Seattle, WA every Tuesday and Wednesday, and remote all other days.
Our Conversational Search team is building Redfin's next generation artificial intelligence powered home search experience, redefining how millions of users discover homes. This is one of Redfin's most ambitious and visible product initiatives for 2026, combining conversational UI, LLM powered reasoning, and high performance backend systems to create a fast, intuitive and deeply helpful way to search for homes. Because this new search paradigm attracts significant engagement and traffic, performance, reliability, and thoughtful UX design are critical. By joining the team, you'll work at the intersection of AI, product design, and large-scale distributed systems to create a fundamentally better way for people to search for homes.

If you're excited about building highly polished, user-facing products, experimenting rapidly, and helping define the future of search at Redfin, this is the team.

Who We Are

High impact and high visibility. We're building Redfin's new AI-powered search experience -- a core product surface used by millions of homebuyers. Next-generation search. We design conversational UI, natural language understanding, and intelligent agent behaviors that let users search in ways traditional filters never could. Full stack ownership. Our teams own everything from backend data pipelines, LLM integrations, and agent reasoning layers to the polished web and mobile UX people interact with every day. Performance and reliability obsessed. Conversational sessions attract heavy user engagement; our systems must be fast, accurate, and resilient at scale. AI-forward, customer-obsessed. We push the boundaries of what AI can do for home search while delivering clear, visible value to users on day one.

The Role

You will develop responsive, resilient, scalable, and high-quality conversational experiences using React, Java, AWS, Sierra AI and various other tools/libraries. You will balance the trade-offs between complex infrastructure investments and quick, pragmatic solutions to meet specific business needs. You will collaborate with other engineering and product stakeholders to define, design, and lead the development of significant multi-person projects. You will stay up to date with the rapidly evolving AI ecosystem and help evaluate new tools, models, and frameworks. You will mentor and guide other junior engineers
