Job Summary

The Social Worker-Intake takes immediate and accurate reports of situations for protective responses to vulnerable members of the community and ensures response when emergency services are identified. The worker receives time-sensitive reports for Child Protection, MN Adult Abuse Reporting Center (MAARC) referrals, requests for service programs, and acquires collateral information regarding reports, completes follow-up and ensures response. The Social Worker-Intake provides emergency and general information to the public, as well as referrals to resources in the Department, community, and surrounding areas. The Social worker provides cross reporting services to other social services and law enforcement agencies and supports other Intake requirements of the agency. Necessary skills include strong assessment skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, good detail and organizational skills and the ability to maintain positive, effective work relationships with others.

Examples of Duties

• Receive child maltreatment reports via phone, email, walk-ins, documents and faxes for mandated and voluntary reports. Request supporting documentation for reports from Law Enforcement, Community Resources, and Social Service agencies (both within and outside of MN) relative to the urgency of the report.
• Receives and processes Parent Support Outreach Program (PSOP) requests for services.
• Monitor intake log, review reports, screen with Child Protection Screening Team, complete required documentation and send initial disposition letter to reporters.
• Respond to requests for Social services from Rice County residents by providing general information, referrals to resources, and crisis intervention as needed.

• Maintains general knowledge of child protection, adult mental health, children\'s mental health, developmental disabilities, waiver services, chemical health, homelessness, guardianship, conservatorship, and health care directives.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
The job requires a Bachelor\'s degree in Social Work or related human services field, and one- year supervised experience working in a social services environment, or equivalent. Valid Driver\'s license required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor or Master\'s degree in Social Work and experience as a county Social Worker in the area of intake services. Bi-lingual in Somali or Spanish preferred.

Supplemental Information

HIRING RANGE / UNION: $31.76 - $33.27 per hour / SS Unit - Grade 12

HOURS: Business hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Full-time hours equal 40 hours per week.
