Content Transfer Service - Government Restructuring & Backlog Remediation
Role Overview
Reporting to the
Manager, Content and Collaboration Services (CCS)
, the
Content Transfer Service Analyst
will be responsible for executing secure, accurate, and policy-compliant transfers of unstructured content across Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platforms.
The role will primarily support
Government Restructuring backlogs
and
high-priority litigation-related transfers
, moving content between
SharePoint (2016 and Online)
,
shared drives
, and other ECM systems such as
OpenText Content Server
and
Documentum
.
The Analyst will manage
multiple concurrent transfers
, requiring strong organizational skills to balance competing timelines, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations across multiple business areas.
Key Responsibilities
Perform secure, auditable content transfers between ECM platforms and shared drive environments
Collaborate with delivery teams, business stakeholders, and GoA technical teams to:
Confirm transfer requirements
Plan execution timelines
Coordinate scripting, testing, and validation activities
Participate in backlog creation, prioritization, effort estimation, and delivery commitments
Ensure all transfers comply with departmental and corporate policies, business rules, and data governance standards
Develop and maintain:
Technical documentation
Transfer procedures
User guides and training materials
Provide technical guidance to business partners on ECM platforms and shared-drive structures
Create and execute scripts, workflows, logs, and supporting documentation for transfers
Perform migration activities including:
Content mapping
Metadata transformation
Loading and testing
Validate file integrity and ensure secure handling of sensitive information
Support additional duties as required
Technical & Professional Requirements
Mandatory Technical Skills
Strong experience with:
Windows command line and batch scripting
File system operations, permissions, and security concepts
Hands-on experience with:
SharePoint 2016 and SharePoint Online
Lists, document libraries, document sets
Content types and metadata
Security and permissions models
Assets / Nice-to-Have Skills
Robocopy (Windows command-line utility)
PowerShell scripting
ShareGate (hands-on migration experience preferred)
OpenText Content Server (general system knowledge and usage)
Experience migrating content across SharePoint versions
Experience with:
Microsoft 365 SharePoint Online Admin Portal
Reporting and configuration
Experience with on-prem, cloud, and cross-platform migrations
Familiarity with Government of Alberta (GoA) IT / IM policies and standards
Professional Competencies
Strong understanding of IT infrastructure environments (workstations, servers, and LOB applications)
Solid knowledge of IT Change Management and Communication Management practices
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills

and may include strategic, architectural, and technical discussions

Work must be performed
from within Canada
due to data and network security requirements

Qualification Summary
