Ecosystem Security & Integrity (ESI) is a Global Risk group that is tasked with the role of upholding the security and integrity of the payment ecosystem through the interdiction of illegal and fraudulent activity. This is achieved through the deployment of risk control and/or compliance programs. The programs are deployed through Visa Rules and additional client guidelines and Visa performs the risk control leveraging proprietary tools, specialized third party vendors, regional risk teams, and other stakeholders. ESI also works with internal and external stakeholders to further its charter and initiatives.

Reporting to the Sr. Director of the Program Management office, this person will participate in managing the design and deployment of the Visa Integrity Risk Program (VIRP), which specifically addresses merchant activities that have a heightened risk of illegal or fraudulent activity. The position provides analytical, research and operational support to develop capabilities and insights that impact the Program design, policies, guidelines, standards and communications, addressing emerging threat vectors in the payment eco-system.

Essential Functions

  • Support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of Visa\'s Integrity Risk Program (VIRP)
  • Manage and drive annual program review process and industry landscape assessments
  • Leverage experience in market, legal, regulatory and economic research to be a thought-partner to cross-functional teams.
  • Anticipate and respond to emerging risks with a critical analysis of the scale and scope of options including industry landscape, policy creation, process changes, communications and guidelines
  • Perform fast-paced research and writing to develop strategic analyses that shape risk investments and market responses
  • Provide strategic insight into the overall risk landscape by analyzing data, interpreting research (market, client, competitive), and translating findings into thought leadership that can enhance Integrity Risk\'s policy, narratives and positioning
  • Develop industry knowledge and expertise in high-risk payment sectors
  • Collaborate with the global research team to share and build knowledge, best practices and relevant new ideas for strategic papers and decision-making
  • Develop knowledge capabilities and assets related to Integrity Risk Threat vectors and support innovating department knowledge, delivering through special projects
  • Work closely with Legal on periodic regulatory landscape scanning as well as analysis of enforcement actions, and drive required updates or changes to the Program
  • Prepare and maintain updates to related Visa Rules, Policies and Procedures
  • Build and deploy for external and internal trainings, executive briefs, presentations and other communication materials
  • Engage on regular basis with the Regional Risk teams, and designated VIRP functional leads to ensure consistent program execution, but also to obtain feedback and input on further program enhancements
  • Engage with legal, investor relations, external regulators, policy makers, industry partners and advocacy groups to support the development of policies, putting in place controls that reduce unlawful activity and improve the safety and integrity of the payment ecosystem
  • Understand and apply policies to diverse scenarios and industries
  • Partner with corporate communications, legal and other internal and external stakeholders to develop narratives and engagement and communications strategy for various organizations impacting emerging risks, safety and integrity
  • Provide input to the Management Information Systems (MIS)/Analytics team to build-out required program MIS, KRIs and overall reporting packs
  • Partner with MIS and VIRP functional leads on discovery partner sourcing plan and management
  • Regularly screen the market and assess third-party solutions that can be deployed to support discovery activities or support other aspects of the program
  • Develop and maintain a suite of advanced discovery methods and tools that seek and identify merchants operating outside of Visa Rules
  • Provide input into the design of the Visa Integrity Risk Program tools and platforms, working with MIS Visa, Research and Technology
  • Execute program or process controls that drive a consistent application of the program.
This is a Non-Technical role in which we are seeking candidates with strong research and strategy experience. Candidates with current/past experience within consulting firms are highly encouraged to apply.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
  • Experience at a leading management consulting firm and/or within a top-tier internal strategy group
  • Visa or Payments industry experience with focus on risk strategy, risk programs or related domains
  • Demonstrated research experience
  • Problem solver with analytical skills that has the ability to connect the dots and design solutions that require deployment and/or buy-in across a larger group of stakeholders
  • Strong experience driving programs, projects and collaborating in large, matrixed organizations
  • Experience with Executive Reporting
  • Flexible and creative thinker with strong execution skills, generate out-of-the-box solutions, manage ambiguity, anticipate the impact of decisions/initiatives and able to move seamlessly from high level concepts to details
  • Proven project management skills and experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to structure, synthesize and deliver content on complex topics in a simple and crisp manner
  • Bias for action and ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • Passionate about communications, presentation design, policy making, writing, payments, law, international/ geo-political events and how they impact payments
  • Attention to detail and organized
  • Ability to manage sensitive content calmly
Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 126,900.00 to 165,000.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
