Summary:

A Senior Production Hub Specialist will perform the same duties as a Production Hub Specialist, but at a higher level, leading teams or supervising and engaging with client newsrooms in a sophisticated, customer-facing manner. The specialist\xe2\x80\x99s main responsibilities may include but are not limited to sourcing articles and photos publication in print newspapers; writing print headlines; proofing newspaper pages for all newspapers; editing content to be shared across all newspapers; and supervising a team doing similar work.

This role is fully remote but must be based in any of these states: CA, CT, FL, IL, IN, MD, MI, MO, NJ, NY, OK, PA, TN, TX, VA

What you will do:

Be fast and accurate: Always striving to provide readers with what we know, when we know it. Be transparent about sources of information

Prepare articles and designs for publication, proofing and typesetting newspaper pages, editing and designing content to be shared across all Tribune newspapers

Editing stories for length with an eye toward accuracy and readability; checking for grammar, punctuation and clarity; proofreading others\xe2\x80\x99 work

Writing easy-to-read, informative and creative headlines on tight deadlines

Resource system to optimize production

Conceiving, creating, editing or producing various types of content.

Editing photos: pulling photos from wires and other sources; cropping and toning photos for publication

Meeting production deadlines and maintaining ideal page flow under minimal to moderate supervision

Initiate good news judgment

Striving to meet specific individual goals to be assigned on a regular basis by supervisor

What you will bring:

Ability to foster excellent communication with peers, supervisor(s), department and newsroom

Solid grasp of the rules of grammar, spelling, punctuation. Ability to write and edit accurately, with clarity, without bias

Good communication skills and diplomacy

Adherence to the codes of ethics

Strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit

Ability to multi-task and perform in a fast-paced deadline driven environment

Willingness to work evenings/weekends and irregular hours

Bachelor\'s Degree or equivalent experience required

A minimum of three years editing and design experience at a news publication; knowledge and acceptance of Tribune\xe2\x80\x99s mission and strategy; excellent command of verbal and written English. Must be able and willing to work irregular hours and holidays as necessary and must be familiar with computers and software

Ability to multitask and perform well under constant deadlines with only moderate supervision

A strong command of the English language; editing skills that conform to accepted journalistic techniques and the style of the publication.
