Job Description


This person will oversee all Business Development support and strategy for our US Corporate practice and support
key initiatives for the broader US Corporate partner group. The US Corporate practices comprise M&A, Private Equity,
Employment, IP/Tech Transactions, Antitrust, Environmental, and Sanctions.

  • Practice strategy, planning, and execution: Working closely with the attorneys to develop and implement the business development strategy and plans for the US Corporate practice.
  • Cross-practice & cross-office integration: Using an understanding of the firm\'s international partner and business development network (and the varied range of working practices/styles) to successfully integrate new laterals into the firm. In addition, this role will play a pivotal role in guiding our US and global Digital Assets, Fintech Private Equity, and US ESG sector groups.
  • Collaboration: Collaboration and integration with other parts of the firm, especially the global Client Relationship Management and Corporate BD teams.
  • Client relationship management: Providing light touch client relationship management to a selection of key clients of the US Corporate practice (including developing and driving execution of client action plans, contact mapping, and fostering partner collaboration).
  • Client listening (interviews): Working with the partners to develop a process to do pitch, matter, and relationship debriefs, in conjunction with the global client listening team and client relationship teams.
  • Marketing discussion & review: Leading BD updates and individual one-to-one BD check-ins with the US Corporate Partners to discuss strategic priorities and key client targeting initiatives; ensuring relevant information from these meetings is circulated to internal groups.
  • Corporate BD team management: Managing the workflow and mentoring the development of the US Corporate BD team members.
  • Profile/PR: Working with our PR agency to increase the visibility of the practices, which includes press coverage on major deals and market developments and drafting entries for directories.
  • Marketing processes management: Developing and maintaining effective marketing processes for assigned groups (e.g., up-to-date CVs of attorneys in assigned groups, fresh content for the external website, deal tracking, etc) aligned to the firm\'s established processes and systems.
  • Client events: Together with the US Events team, planning and executing client events and seminars (e.g., consulting on appropriate venues, overseeing client invitee lists, design of invites, ensuring events are aligned to practice strategy and have a sound business case, managing budgets, etc.); monitoring ROI post-event
  • Sponsorships: Assessment of sponsorship opportunities for the Corporate group to ascertain their value for our brand and exposure to current and potential clients, overseeing the execution of suitable sponsorships (e.g., targeting speaker opportunities, coordinating materials and speakers, conducting event follow-up, etc.) and monitoring of ROI post-event.
  • Marketing processes management: Developing and maintaining effective marketing processes for assigned groups (e.g., up-to-date bios and photographs of attorneys in assigned groups, fresh content for the external website, etc).

  • Bachelor\'s degree required.
  • Culturally astute with a strong ability to work effectively with colleagues from other countries on cross-border activities.
  • 8+ years of professional services experience working in a high-profile, fast-paced environment. Experience in legal marketing and business development will be highly regarded.
  • Experience managing individuals, developing team members\' BD skills, and working with individuals to meet their goals.
  • Knowledge of the legal Fintech, Digital Assets, and ESG sectors is an advantage.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, including decisiveness, effective prioritization skills, and a results-driven orientation with appropriate sensitivity.
  • A tenacious, proactive approach to achieving results and a demonstrable track record of helping to successfully grow a practice group.
  • A self-starter with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and drive forward multiple projects, using limited partner availability in the most effective way.
  • A strong team player, with experience developing successful working relationships with other business development team members.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills-with partners, associates, and business development colleagues.
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to develop an in-depth understanding of markets in which your practice areas operate.
  • Ability to work to deadlines, juggle multiple projects, and deliver under pressure. Ability to plan ahead, anticipate the workload of the team and manage others\' time efficiently, balances conflicting priorities, and does not over-commit team and themselves - always manages expectations
  • High attention to detail and strong client focus.
