TOWN OF PARKER

SENIOR MAINTENANCE WORKER

Definition:

Under supervision of the Public Works Supervisor, the Senior Maintenance Worker maintains Town buildings as the primary duties and as needed helps in other areas within the Public Works Department.

Essential Functions:

Tasks:

Monitor, repair, install, and perform routine maintenance on all Town owned building facilities and associated equipment, including, but not limited to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and other mechanical systems. This includes preventative maintenance programs and procedures.

Diagnose problems and work with appropriate contractors, consultants, and other repair personnel to resolve issues that arise with the facilities, machinery, or equipment owned by the Town.

Build, install, and/or repair Town facilities and equipment using technical knowledge, skills, abilities, techniques, and equipment customary to mechanical, electrical, painting, drywall repair, woodworking, plumbing, masonry, and horticultural work.

Perform monthly safety equipment inspections on fire extinguishers, emergency exits and lights. Respond to emergencies, including but not limited to; structural problems, equipment failures, plumbing and electrical issues, fire alarms, and power failures.

Repair and move office and facility furniture and equipment as needed.

Work with the Public Works Supervisor to maintain both routine and specialized maintenance schedules and policies for all building operating systems and equipment.

Routinely evaluate and access Town building facilities and equipment for compliance with State and Federal codes and regulations and report them to the Public Works Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Other Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of building maintenance practices and techniques.
  • Knowledge of basic construction and maintenance practices, methods, and techniques.
  • Knowledge and skill using computers and related software programs for maintenance work orders.
  • Skills in performing plumbing, electrical, carpentry maintenance and minor HVAC maintenance.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with town staff and the public.
  • Skill in operating mowers, blowers, weed trimmers, tractors and other equipment.
  • Skill in following oral and written instructions.
  • Skill in using common hand and power tools.
  • Skill in working outdoors in all weather conditions while performing vigorous physical activities.
  • Able to lift heavy objects and perform strenuous work.
  • Able to work on standby or on call on rotating weekends.
Qualifications:

Preferred two (2) years experience in building or facilities maintenance or general construction trade. Valid Arizona Driver\'s license.
