The Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer is responsible for: the engineering design of instrumentation, control, and electrical systems from initial concept through commissioning, technical expertise, I&E project development, project implementation and budget management. The I&E Engineer will support projects by integrating into a multi-disciplinary project team and providing project management depending on project scope.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Develop capital and expense project scope related to I&E system upgrades for the refinery and associated assets.
  • Responsible for insuring instrumentation, control, and electrical system design, installation, commissioning and start up are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Developing one-line and cable block diagrams that will accomplish the needs of a project and support the reliability of the refinery.
  • Preparing project authorization documentation including cost estimates, project justification, schedules and execution plans according to corporate safety guidelines while promoting projects from start to completion. (The expectation for the I&E engineer is to plan work and ensure it is completed within corporate safety guidelines and promote the same throughout the project from start to completion.)
  • Developing project contract strategies and preparing engineering and bid specifications.
  • Interacting with engineering and construction contractors, vendors both on-site and off-site during project implementation.
  • Providing maintenance support, as needed. Technical project support and long-term preventive/predictive maintenance (including PM development and implementation) for the Electrical and Instrumentation Craft and equipment.
  • Participating in technical networks, assisting in development of and implementing best practices.
  • Supporting documentation of systems to maintain accurate equipment information and drawings.
Basic/Required:
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Bachelor\'s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
  • Must possess a valid driver\'s license
  • 7 or more years of experience in electrical equipment and power system maintenance and/or electrical design
Preferred:
  • 10 or more years of experience working in refining and/or the chemicals industry in the field of electrical engineering
  • Working knowledge of process instrumentation design and/or maintenance
  • Working knowledge of power distribution systems, equipment (SWG/MCCs etc), and design philosophies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of API, IEEE, NEMA, UL, ANSI, and other applicable standards
  • Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
The Ponca City Refinery is located in Ponca City, Oklahoma, approximately 95 miles northwest of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Its facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes a mixture of light, medium and heavy crude oil delivered via pipeline from Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, the U.S. Rockies and Canada. Infrastructure improvements have enabled the delivery of locally produced crude oil by pipeline and truck. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels and anode-grade petroleum coke. Refined products are primarily distributed to customers by company-owned and common carrier pipelines to markets throughout the Midcontinent region.
