WHAT WE OFFER

The Instrumentation and Controls Engineer leads the management and continuous improvement of the Distributed Controls System (Emerson DeltaV), Safety Instrumental Safety (SIS) systems, and associated controls and instrumentation components at the Wilmington, Massachusetts and East Providence, Rhode Island sites. The role supports production at both sites and will be the primary resource for troubleshooting DCS and controls related issues. The individual will work closely with the maintenance technicians and process engineers at each site to identify gaps, determine appropriate solutions, and implement through day-to-day work orders, continuous improvement initiatives, or capital investment projects.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead and participate in health and safety activities at the site by providing input for PHAs / HAZOPs / etc.
  • Manage the site\xe2\x80\x99s Safety Instrument Systems (SIS) including mandatory proof testing and process safety loop tests to ensure proper functionality.
  • Manage and coordinate all appropriate services required on the DeltaV system through the site\xe2\x80\x99s Emerson contracts.
  • Accountable to maintain and safeguard the site\xe2\x80\x99s controls, SIS, and electrical as-built plant documentation.
  • Implement DeltaV related initiatives managed through the site\xe2\x80\x99s Improve Plant / Continuous Improvement process.
  • Lead the implementation of control-heavy site capital projects beginning with project scope, budget, finishing with installation, startup, and commissioning.
  • Initiate continuous improvement efforts that ensure root cause analysis of known, repetitive processing/maintenance issue\xe2\x80\x99s due to the DCS or other controls/instrumentation leading to production non-conformances and machine/infrastructure failure.
  • Creates, maintains, and develops standards (Functional Design Specification) for operating the plant DeltaV system.
  • Investigates plant performance issues related to DeltaV Recipe / Batch controls leading to proposal and implementation of appropriate solutions.
  • Champion the alarm management site strategy including reporting application Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and implemented control solutions that bring down the overall alarm, simulation, and/or modelock events.
  • Provides technology expert knowledge support for site daily operation.
WHAT YOU OFFER

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Engineering (Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical preferred) and a minimum of 4 years of experience in Instrumentation and Controls Engineering in a manufacturing environment or a Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Experience with Emerson\xe2\x80\x99s DeltaV Batch System or equivalent Distributed Controls System.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Excellent, knowledge of chemical processes to effectively analyze, recommend and make decisions.
  • Basic understanding and familiarity with electrical drawings including one and three-line diagrams, electrical schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, and P&IDs.
  • Effective communication skills, practices active listening skills, able to communicate openly and effectively, providing timely and relevant feedback to facilitate appropriate actions by self and others.
  • Learns quickly when faced with new challenges and problems; detailed, analytical and solution driven and be open to changes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Can contribute in off-hour calls / call-ins.
