Job Summary Responsible for empowering our users with a rich feature set, high availability, and stellar performance levels to pursue their missions. Activities include planning and designing new software and web applications. Analyzes, tests and assists with the integration of new applications. Builds new environments for development and production needs. Oversees the documentation of all development activity. Trains non-technical personnel. Assists with tracking performance metrics. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment. May lead teams or projects and shares expertise.



The Repair and Support team is passionate about building software that solves problems. We count on our site reliability engineers (SREs) to empower users with a rich feature set, high availability, and stellar performance level to pursue their missions. As we expand customer deployments, we\xe2\x80\x99re seeking an experienced SRE to deliver insights from massive-scale data in real time. Specifically, we\xe2\x80\x99re searching for someone who has fresh ideas and a unique viewpoint, and who enjoys collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop real-world solutions and positive user experiences for every interaction.

Objectives of this role

  • Run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health.
  • Build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications.
  • Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions.
  • Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating for continual improvement.
  • Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large-scale distributed software applications.
Core Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.
  • Gather and analyze metrics from operating systems as well as applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding.
  • Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures.
  • Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.
  • Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts.
  • Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service-level objectives.
  • Designs new software and web applications, supports applications under development and customizes current applications. Develops software update process for existing applications. Assists in the roll-out of software releases.
  • Trains junior Software Development Engineers on internally developed software applications.
  • Oversees the researching, writing and editing of documentation and technical requirements, including evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals and formal recommendations and reports.
  • Keeps current with technological developments within the industry. Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
  • Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures and techniques. Serves as a guide and mentor for junior level Software Development Engineers.
  • Assists in tracking and evaluating performance metrics. Ensures team delivers software on time, to specification and within budget.
  • Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.
  • Displays expertise in knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts and skills and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.
  • Displays expertise in process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design and technical choices to internal audiences.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

Bachelor\'s Degree

While possessing the stated degree is preferred, Comcast also may consider applicants who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.

Salary:

Pay Range: $124,648.68 - $186,973.01

Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
